@barebottle Mountain Shine, a hazy DIPA. @jack_the_intoxicated_review and @ramorin17 We decided to make a pit stop on the way home today. Brewed with Elani, which was formerly known as YQH-1320 EXP. Great looking beer right out of the tap. The beer has a hazy appearance and cannot be seen through. Even light has some trouble getting through this brew. The beer is a bright golden orange color and has a head that forms at just over three eighths of an inch before settling down to nothing more than a few wisps. Great aromatics, too! Right away, I can smell a mild to moderate hoppy note as well as a juicy fruit-forward note. I can smell a juicy citrus as well as juicy tropical fruits. This beer is quite tasty and very easy to drink. Up front, the beer has a mostly smooth feel with hints of crispness. I can taste the juicy fruit notes first. I get pineapple notes as well as a grapefruit-like citrus note. The hoppy notes are present but are overpowered by the juicy fruit notes. On the back end, the beer has a smooth finish with lingering citrus and pineapple notes. Delicious! I mentioned earlier that this beer is easy to drink. Very true still despite its hazy appearance. Beer of the Day for Sunday, April 28th, 2024 is Sasquatchito XPA from June Lake Brewing in June Lake, CA. 4.8% ABV, 60 IBU. Sasquatchito XPA pours a predominantly clear, golden straw color. Head is pure white and frothy, leaving lots of sticky lacing on the glass. Hoppy aroma of grassy and floral notes. Taste is hop forward with the same grassy and floral flavors, but also some light citrus. There's a slightly bitter grapefruit undertone that is well received. Malts are a combination of pale and pilsner, creating a bready, doughy backbone. Light bodied with a crisp, dry mouthfeel. Finishes with a pleasant, smooth bitterness. Beer of the Past for April 28th, 2017 is Le Petit Diablotin from High Water Brewing in San Leandro, CA. 6% ABV. Le Petit Diablotin pours a beautiful, hazy, coral pink rose color with thick white head. Acetic acid wafts out of the glass to meet your nose punctuated with dark cherry. It's medium bodied and well carbonated, leaving the sour to dance on your tongue. The taste is fairly complex, but we picked out dark cherry first, then pomegranate, and lastly perhaps slight oak. Brewed with YCH 301 Trial hops: Mosaic, Citra & Simcoe. Sounds super secret-like. Straight out of the bottle, this beer has a crystal clear appearance with a foamy head that appears around three eighths of an inch. The head will settle down to a wispy, still foamy, one sixteenth of an inch. Great looking beer so far. Great smelling, too! I can smell a dank or wet hoppy note right away, followed up by a citrus and stone fruity mixture. Now for the taste. Crisp mouthfeels up front with a balanced bitterness, too. I don't taste the dank notes so much, but the hoppy notes are definitely present. Following that up are the citrus notes. On the back end, the beer has a crisp finish with lingering hoppy, citrus, and a great tasting stone fruit flavor. 🚨 BEER RELEASE 🚨 We're kicking-off Sacramento Beer Week (@sacbeerweek) with a bang by releasing Joined @ The Dip West Coast IPA! A collaboration with our friends at Flatland Brewing (@flatlandbrewing) in Elk Grove, we used a new hopping technique that Flatland employs on some of their IPAs referred to as a “Hop Dip.” The technique involves adding incognito, a concentrated hop extract, directly to the fermenter when filling. We use incognito in other beers, but typically we add it in the kettle. What this modified process does is it avoids any losses that can occur when transferring from the kettle to the fermenter. Huge and fruity, this beer really lets our selected Simcoe hops shine with notes of peach gummy rings, stone fruit, and bright clean citrus. Tons of fruit from the Citra and big citrus from Mosaic hops. Joined @ The Dip is available now on draft and in cans to-go! This beer will see very limited distribution, so swing by one of our restaurants to try some.

Beer of the Past for April 25th, 2020 is Quiet Harbors from Fieldwork Brewing Co. in Berkeley, CA. 6.6% ABV. Pours a light color, golden yellow, and pretty hazy. The head is about one finger thick, white, and foamy. Aroma reveals citrus and tropical fruit. Big, bold, and super hoppy nose. Taste has a fruit spectrum including mango, papaya, melon, pear, orange, and grapefruit. Smooth, flaky malts are there, but take a back seat to the hops. Light bitterness, medium body, with a soft, delicate mouthfeel. Throwback Beer of the Day for April 24th, 2015 was PranQster from North Coast Brewing Co. in Fort Bragg, CA. 7.6% ABV, 20 IBU. Golden amber in color with a slight haze and a thin white head. Aroma is strong and inviting. Though Belgian-style ales are often fruity and sweet, Pranqster plays it conservatively in both of these areas. These flavors exist, but they are well balanced and diverse, with bits of floral hops, banana, grape, coriander, clove, herbs, and yeast. It has a slightly bitter aftertaste that finishes crisp and clean. Congratulations to our friend, Laura Lodge, @brewersassoc Mentor of the Year Award! The Mentor of the Year Award recognizes a volunteer mentor for their outstanding mentorship to program participants and for demonstrating an extraordinary commitment to championing those who experience barriers to access and advancement in their professional journeys. This year’s Mentor of the Year, Laura Lodge, began her craft beer journey in the late 1990s, working with a small, independent distribution company in Colorado. Today, Laura owns Customized Craft Beer Programs, a consulting business offering insight for and assistance with all things craft beer. Lodge has experience in all three distribution tiers including consulting for breweries and distributors, creating retail programs for destination resorts, and participating in the creation and production of educational and experiential craft beer events throughout the country, such as the well-known Big Beers, Belgians & Barleywines Festival, for which she is the executive director. During the pandemic, Laura co-founded Start A Brewery, LLC, a business designed to help dreamers, breweries-in-planning, and growing breweries by offering access to a community of savvy industry professionals and free resources broken down by business phase and category. This venture has proven beneficial both for the general public and Laura’s participation in the Brewers Association Mentorship Program.
When the weather gets less crispy, the beers become more crispy. I enjoyed this one a little while ago now, shortly after the @highlandparkbrewery pop up at @function_pdx in February. Toast Points is a Czech Style Lager brewed in collaboration with @moonlightbrewing. It’s crisp and very flavorful. I don’t like too mellow of a lager and this did not disappoint. Neither did the view from my balcony on this day. What breweries make your favorite crispy beers?

Beer of the Past for April 23rd, 2018 is Peachy Bones from Firestone Walker Brewing Company in Paso Robles, CA. 6.1% ABV. Peachy Bones pours a deep gold color with a slight haze to it. The head on this beer is incredible. Pure white, frothy, and long lasting. There is a constant storm of tiny carbonation bubbles that rise up to support the head. Intense aroma of tart and funky fruit. Taste is a nice balance of fresh peaches, oak, and some barnyard funk. Flavor has a mellow tartness plus a soft yet dry mouthfeel. Crisp bite in the finish with just a bit of pucker. @paperbackbrewing Communist Poodles From Connecticut, an American Stout. This one's funny to me because I just watched a docuseries on The Cold War and the Soviet Union. Brewed with Willamette, Cascade, and British Kent Goldings. Right out of the can, this beer has a dark brown color that cannot be seen through. Not even light can penetrate the heart of this brew just like those damn Commies. The head forms around one half inch and with a tan color before settling down to a still tan one sixteenth of an inch. At first sniff, this beer has a great smelling dark chocolate note with a fresh roasted coffee aroma following it up. At first sip, this beer has a silky smooth mouthfeel with a mild bitterness. I can taste the dark chocolate notes right away with the coffee notes showing up more towards the back end. Speaking of, the beer has a smooth finish with mote pronounced coffee notes showing up. Delicious! I personally found this beer to be easy to drink as an experienced #darkbeer fan.
