Had a lot of fun being put on the spot by two good friends who I couldn't say no to! Soumitra Limaye asked me to come to watch the launch of #callforcode with Anand Deshpande, an initiative by IBM and Persistent Systems. I went along to understand what motivated 700 young people to attend and support sustainabilty through effective innovative new solutions, that are scalable. I sat back, soaking it in until they told me I'd be speaking to motivate the audience. No preparation time :) Well, I just spoke from my heart. How can we put a lander on the moon but not solve poverty and inequality? How could we want to be billionaires when they're might not be a world to spend it in? I told the coders that they were Not coders. They were human beings who were building skills in coding. That they would cease to be human beings if we don't become sustainable. That their coding skills and their ability to work together to come up with a solution could change the face of the world. That while every story needs a hero, in real life behind the heroes are a huge team. So the collective is more important than the hero. Ratan Tata said “If you want to walk fast, walk alone. But if you want to walk far, walk together.” Perhaps to adjust slightly, 'If your want a world to walk in, be playful courageous and curious, put your ego aside - understand and build solutions together' And we might just have a world worth living in😊. #sustainability #ibmindia #callforcode #friendship
