“Comparison only exists where ωє believe there is lack” My mentor spoke the words so casually, I wasn’t even sure she noticed how deeply they cut through my very spine. And yet, the truth is so casual. So nonchalant. So simple. I am learning that, often, simplicity is always the most profound. In life, in love, in friendships and partnerships and family dynamics, the comparison trap is endless. Throw in a heavy dose of social media expectations, projections, affiliations & competitions and you’ve got a recipe for the perfect comparison pie. There IS a difference between comparing and mirroring, however. Our partners, friends & family will all have opportunities to mirror pain, belief systems, destructive habits and self-fulfilling prophecies. And their reflective qualities are some of the most powerful activations available for our healing. But the difference here is that, a true reflection invites you into change from a place of pure love. It inspires your potential, not from shame or fear… but from the Higher Self vision that’s been written into your very dna. Change brought on by comparison comes from the egotistical attempt to avoid the underlying pain and remove the trigger by force. Not to learn from it, love and integrate it. It is the result of a terrified race against a story of “never enough-ness”… and change brought on from that space will never be lasting. I feel the world needs us to show up fully—not just with the parts that feel acceptable or easy to share. For this world to flourish, we need all of you (as in all of your components) to be present. If you’re human, chances are that you’ve been hurt or disappointed at some time in your life. If that’s you, then read on. “All of your experiences where you were disappointed in matters of the heart, where you were hurt or where what you were hoping would come true took a different course. And where you allowed yourself to open up and connect to others and felt unseen or unheard, where you felt you had to shrink in order to be deserving, where you felt you had to keep yourself small in order to be acceptable, in order to be allowed to be present, in order to be allowed to take part at the table, to take a place, however small, you felt you needed to pretend. You needed to pretend to disguise part of who you were. That part of you that feels unsafe to be seen, to be allowed into the world. A part of you that’s yet to come to full blossom in this experience. … No longer closing off parts of you, no longer compartmentalizing that which you can safely show and allow to be seen. Allowing yourself to merge and to allow all these colors that make up who you are to swirl together. To swirl together and become the new you, the new you that you are invited to be. Matthew 28:16-20 commissions every single believer to play a role in the ministry of reconciliation (2 Cor 5:18) that’s what we’ve been given as assigned to. Anything left to itself tends to chaos. Now, more than ever, in this unprecedented epoch in time, as believers, not pastors, church leaders, elders only, but as believers, to ARISE + SHINE, to carry His Light into all the World… proclaiming the good news. Bringing Justice where there injustice. Life where there’s death and hope, where there’s hopelessness. Being set apart will determine the effectiveness of our commissioning.
