Home again tomorrow 💜.. . We've had a bit of a topsy-turvy start to the year, which has seen us spending more time apart than we have been together, which is never fun.... . In the time that I have been away, spring has kicked up a gear, and I can't wait to see it again. Andy has been keeping me going with photos of the roses starting to bud and the wisteria starting to flower on the front of the house, together with little facts about what is happening. Last night the frogs had started chattering again and today the bats are back, sleeping (and squabbling) behind the shutters during the day... . If all goes well, I'll be home tomorrow night and will be able to see it again for myself. A view to cheer my heart.. . Yesterday afternoon, once Andy was safely en route back to Devon, I pulled on my shoes to take a walk along the trails above Saignon.. . It's a lovely track, climbing out of the village, before looping round and coming back under the cliffs. At every point there are beautiful views, but this one of Caseneuve, is still my favourite. The village sits proud on its promontory at the head of the valley, with the snowcapped mountains of the Alpes de Haute Provence still sparkling in the distance.. . There may have been signs of Spring, with daisies, violets & hellebores in flower and the first soft, silvery-green shoots of growth on the lavender, but those snowcaps remind me that winter can still come back to bite us.. . The simple joy of a peaceful walk on a glorious autumn afternoon ... . Yesterday morning was busy, with back-to-back tasks that saw me leave the house at 7.30, and by early afternoon I needed a break... . So I pulled on my walking shoes and headed out on a loop that takes me up onto the ridge between us and Rustrel, on a long loop around Caseneuve... . It was beautiful and so perfectly peaceful (I only saw 1 person all the way round) and the autumn colours were vibrant, popping against the evergreens in the warm autumn sun... . By the time I got home, (nearly 3 hours later( the sky was on fire with the sunset and the busy-ness of the morning had melted away... . We don't often see these beauties of nature here, but late yesterday afternoon, as we walked Millie, this stunning rainbow appeared arching high over the lavender fields, framing Caseneuve above us... . It was a stunning sight. Yes it meant it was raining, but with the setting sun behind us, already tinting the edges of the clouds in shades of pink and orange, it was especially beautiful... .
