While in Paris, I was invited to a perfect Galentine’s night hosted by the always lovely @mariannefabrelanvin. Marianne sure knows how to bring a group of fantastic women together for wine, cheese, and lots of tea 🫖. Jkjk… maybe. We had a blast at the authentic and unassuming local spot @chezdenise_ in the 2nd. Of course the fun of this place, besides the lively ambiance, large traditional dishes, and laughter of new friends — is that this quaint restaurant was featured by Anthony Bourdain in his very first season of No Reservations. Back in the days of “freedom fries” and American reluctance toward traveling to Paris, Bourdain set out to showcase the warmth of a city that had a falling out of charm among some across the Atlantic. Though times have changed, and Americans are not shy about visiting the City of Light (and we loooooove it), Chez Denise remains the same. 🇫🇷 [ #chezdenise] 평점: ★★☆☆☆ 퐁네프 다리 근처 아늑한 분위기의 프렌치 전문점, 뭔가 현지인들만 찾을 것 같은 예감과 달리 방문 당시에는 모든 테이블이 관광객들이었다. 심지어 한중일이 대부분 둘이 메인과 디저트 각각 하나씩 주문했는데 양이 꽤 많은 편이라 상당히 배부르게 먹었다. 서버께서 영어는 하시는데 영어 메뉴판이 없어 사진을 보여드리며 주문했다. 비프 부르기뇽으로 추정되는 메인은 찜처럼 푹 익은 소고기 덩어리가 마카로니와 함께 담겨 나온다. 자작한 국물에 소고기는 되게 부드러워 마치 단맛 없는 갈비찜 같다. 다른 메인은 머스터드소스에 버무린 송아지 고기라는데 희한하게 버섯 크림 맛이 강했다. 그 말인즉슨 익숙한 맛이며 송아지 고기는 비계가 붙어있어 쫄깃쫄깃했다. 디저트는 역시 파티세리 강국답게 평균 이상, 캐러멜을 뿌린 커스터드푸딩의 경우 탱글함이 아주 좋았다. 크렘 브륄레랑 비슷하면서 좀 더 배부른 디저트라 보면 되겠다. 1인 1디저트는 무리라고 생각했지만 산딸기 케이크까지 남김없이 다 비웠다. 산딸기 케이크는 커스터드푸딩처럼 달진 않고 아주 상큼하여 마무리로는 더 개운하다. 빵은 차갑게 제공되고 와인은 물 잔에 따라 주는 등 빈틈이 보였지만 긴 영업시간에 적당한 가격 그리고 양이 푸짐하다는 장점도 있는듯하다. 적극 추천하기엔 애매하다. 📍5 Rue des Prouvaires, 75001 Paris #프랑스여행 #파리여행 #파리맛집 #chanwook_프랑스 #chanwook_파리
