Second sample of the #CaladiumCardigan is now complete (swipe right for the first sample). I’ve adjusted the measurements to create the more boxy shape I was seeking. The green/cream version was knit with #DropsFlora and the grey/cream with #DropsNord, which created a denser fabric. Both are economical choices to create a natural fibre garment for toddlers and children. The cardigan features top-down construction, shoulder shaping, modified drop shoulders and a double-knit button band. Pictured size is 18 months - the pattern includes up to Size 12. The pattern is now with the tech editor. The third test knit I completed is the adorable Passport Pullover by @hannahgknits 💙 . I've had this Sirdar Jewelspun yarn in my stash for almost a year just waiting to be knit into something for my little boy. I bought it from one of my favorite yarn shops, @flaxenfleece , when my husband and I were in Wisconsin last fall for a friend's wedding. . When Hannah announced the test knit, I knew this sweater would be just the thing for this yarn! I knit the 4th size. My yarn is a little on the heavier side, more of an aran weight, so I went down one needle size from the pattern to get the correct gauge. . The unique thing about this particular sweater pattern is the saddle shoulder detail. I have never knit a saddle shoulder sweater before so I was pretty excited to try out something new. It is slightly different from a raglan sweater, but no more difficult. . I think this will make an amazing play sweater for my little boy! He loves being outside and as the weather cools down, I can see this being the perfect thing to pop on him. The yarn is inexpensive and 100% acrylic so I'm not worried about having to be too "precious" about it. 😁 . In case you haven't noticed, I love Hannah's patterns! She is an excellent designer and everything I've knit from her patterns has turned out wonderfully! I can highly recommend her patterns as being excellent for both beginners and more advanced knitter's alike. It's been a rough week so posting on Instagram has been just about the last thing on my mind. But I had the privilege of doing several test knits in July/August. All the patterns are available now and I want to share my versions of these lovely patterns. . First off is the Little Seaberry by Emily of The Blue Mouse Knits. This is a classic raglan child's sweater pattern. I knit the third size in random DK weight yarns from my stash. . The brown is some of my hand dyed yarn, the teal/blue is Berroco Vintage Baby DK, and the mustard is some Explorer Knits of which I haven't the foggiest notion what the colorway name is! . I loved knitting this pattern. I had a bazillion ends to weave in because I ended up cutting the yarn with every color change in the body. 🤦🏼♀️ But it all looks lovely in the end! There are limited sizes, but I still highly recommend it as a well written, easy to understand pattern.
