It was time this make got a spot on the grid - may I present my favourite new sweater 😍 This is the Tendreil sweater by @the_knit_purl_girl and I knew as soon as I saw it it would become a wardobe staple. One of the samples was made in a gorgeous ruch blue, and although I couldn't get hold of that particular yarn, I managed to find a near enough colour match from @woolwarehouse new @yarnsmiths DK range. Merry Friday, my lovelies and today it’s Things To Knit This Weekend: aran edition! Now I’ve been seeing some really amazing aran yarn deals around at the moment and whilst it might seem weird to be thinking about your autumn and winter wardrobes now, it’s not really when there’s yarn bargains to be had! And these 4 patterns are quick to knit so you won’t be labouring under them as temperatures start to rise (in October at this rate in the UK!😂) So what have I got for you? I think I should talk about the first two together because they match and the patterns can be bought separately or in a bundle if you want both! Beanie Number 2 and Cowl Number 2.1 are so cosy and so easy and quick to knit that you can definitely finish both of them in a weekend! They’re so relaxing to knit too. Great for popping in your project bag if you’re off out somewhere this weekend, they’re also great to pop on your bag when they’re finished and the weather can’t quite make up its mind. Knit them together and you’ll need about 270m of aran yarn or 90m and 180m respectively. Then there’s Aberystwyth! This has been really popular this week and it’s easy to see why. It’s a fabulous pattern to knit, it looks great and it’s lovely and cosy too! And it is very quick to knit on 6mm needles. You’ll need 500m of aran yarn for this beauty! Oxford is another great aran scarf that is simple to and looks amazing. The comma stitch motif is really simple and relaxing and again the scarf knits up quickly on 6mm needles. You’ll need between 525m and 575m of aran yarn for this one depending on whether you want to add fringing or not. All of these patterns are available individually in my pattern stores (links in bio), but the pattern bundle is on available on Payhip or Ravelry. Here’s a perfect transitional cast on! The Martha Cardigan is easy to knit, goes with everything and responds to every change in the weather. AND…it’s 25% off this week in my Ravelry shop, no code required! Lightweight and relaxed, the Martha Cardigan makes the perfect go-to all-weather sweater. A classic straight shape and cropped length makes layering over blouses, T-shirts and dresses easy and stylish while a touch of patterning at the hem (including some whimsical bobbles!) makes it a dream to knit. This cardigan is a very easy knit; it is a seamless, top-down raglan that can be tried on for fit at any time. It is the perfect “first-time” sweater project. The Martha Cardigan can be knit in just about any DK weight yarn, although a woolen spun choice - like the Jamieson & Smith Shetland yarns or Diamond Highland - give this sweater its airy quality. I really took my time with the stitch motif that runs around the hem and cuffs. I knitted and re-knitted, editing and eliminating elements that I thought were distracting. Finally, I settled on a simple textured diamond falling from a string of purl stitches and highlighted by a tiny bobble. As a cardigan, I like that Martha is slightly cropped. Happy pattern release day, to all who celebrate! 🧶 • I had so much fun being part of the test knit crew and working up the Armour Top pattern by @ranti.studio! This was my first time working a pattern as a test knitter and the bar is set HIGH! As a self-taught knitter, this pattern pushed me a little out of my comfort zone and I had fun figuring out parts of this intermediate pattern on my own and in our test knit group chat. I’ve admired Ranti’s designs for years and I’m glad I got to work with her and get a glimpse of what it’s like to create and test a pattern. I was inspired by the play on words in the title of the pattern, so I chose a deep red color for love and added a split hem and split sleeves inspired by the tunics knights wore under their armor. • Size: 5 in pattern Yarn: ~3.5 skeins of Isager Yarn Jensen Yarn, in color 32S I will most likely never use this yarn again 😂 it’s really rough and it does soften a bit when you wash it, but barely. I prefer softer yarns, but at least this one is machine washable. I run hot and this yarn is VERY warm, so I’ll be wearing this sweater in the dead of winter and making another one in a softer yarn so I can wear it in the spring/fall.

I cast on this #montpellierslipover by @novemberknits a little while ago as my plain stockinette project. My #porcelainsweater needs frogging and with a 5-month-old it is just difficult to squeeze in the time to do that. Also, my #nulatosweater is too heavy to knit on standing (I often knit when I am rocking the baby to sleep in the baby carrier)… So the Montpellier slipover was meant as a mindless, enjoyable knit - and it truly brings me so much joy! “The yarn is your guide.” If you’ve taken a class with me, you’ve heard me say this - it sounds hippie dippie, but it’s totally true. These are two of my new cowl designs (enjoy the sneak peek!). Both used the same size needles and same CO number, and clearly one is smaller. This isn’t a mistake or a mystery - is because of the yarn-fiber/stitch combo of each of the designs. Fiber content matters, structure matters, stitch design matters. This isn’t bad or a mistake! In fact I love the different personalities in each cowl! It’s just a great example showing how YARN MATTERS in a design. The yarn truly is your guide, and will lead you through your work (if you let it). Merry Thursday, my lovelies and today I bring to you one of my aran weight scarf patterns which has been getting a lot of attention this week. And I think you can see why! The pattern in question is Aberystwyth and here’s why you might like to knit this beauty yourself! This design is one of my College Collection and is based on the rugged coastline around Aberystwyth. You’ve got waves and rock pools which makes this a lovely, relaxing pattern to knit. It’s easy to knit and quite quick to knit too! It’s perfect for curling up with both at home and when you’re out and about and the finished result is a gorgeously, cosy scarf that looks great with any outfit. So what do you need to knit this scarf? ~ 500m of Aran yarn. I had to go down several sizes to get the size I wanted, but the end result is a perfect relaxed fit, not too oversized.
