This is an appreciation post for The Adventure Knit Pattern. If you aren’t familiar with this pattern, it is a “Choose Your Own Adventure” type pattern (as the name implies) where you can pick any combination of brim and body options to create a unique looking hat. The best part of the pattern is that Carrie, the pattern designer, includes a photo of what every single hat option looks like knitted up. I got my hands on this one early as I was selected as a test knitter. 💙 We love seeing everyone’s finished knitwear from our Shetland Wool Week Annuals. And this two colour work of wonder caught our eye. It’s the #JemimasJumper as featured in the 2022 SWW Annual and has been knitted by @loumaskatron The pattern is a redesign by @donnasmithdesigns of a vintage Fair Isle jumper from the @shetlandmuseum collection. It comes with an optional cowl to give it the look of a polo neck. @loumaskatron has made some further adaptions of her own - corrugated rib cuffs and hems in place of garter stitch. 🧶🧶MARY QUANT MONDAY🧶🧶 Here is another knitting pattern that was in collaboration with Robin Yarns. It would make a nice winter sweater and it would be quite a simple knit with the fairisle style of knitting because you’re only having to knit with two colours on the pattern rows. The colours used in the sample sweater in the photo also work really well together. As with all of these vintage patterns, the yarn has been discontinued but I could see this sweater working well in a merino yarn or acrylic yarn as they would give a smooth finish like the original Courtelle yarn did. Scumble hat and mittens being put to good use on a windy day in beautiful Snowdonia. The weather was the perfect excuse to wear them all the time we were away - I even got a complement from an eagle eyed knitted who spotted them in action 😊 I’ve never made mittens before and was a bit nervous of the shaping and thumb section whilst maintaining the colourwork across DPNs, but the pattern by @ginnisr was really clear and made it a stress free knit! Elegant Mr Bunny @bunnysvintagewardrobe is one of my regular customers. Being an expert on 1930s and 1940s men’s fashion, he knows a lot about original vintage knitting patterns and authentic colour palettes from the period. He likes his knits to look 100% authentic, as if they were made in the 30s, and has an amazing eye for the detail. Luckily while using Shetland wool produced in the Shetland Islands, that I always pick for Fair Isle knitwear, it’s easy to find authentic looking colours and just the right yarn type for the project. In this particular case, I used an original 1940s knitting pattern and selected colours based on the pattern instructions, to achieve a fully 1940s design. I think the colours turned out beautifully, and Bunny certainly knows how to sport his vintage style garments! I was a bit put out by the expensive delivery charge (€10), especially since i ordered such a lot, but i am a bit reassured now because it took less than a day to get here from holland! Easily one of my proudest projects 💕 I had such a clear vision for this one but couldn't find anything similar so wasn't sure if it would work. I was determined to see if I could apply fair isle knitting to the basic pumpkin pattern I've been using. So after spending a good couple hours making mistakes trying to create a graph pattern - and lots of cursing - I finally finished a pattern that I couldn't even know worked without investing even more hours actually knitting it. Hello again! I have finally reached the point where the large flowers are showing in this lovely #fairisleknittingpattern #alpinebloomtee @boylandknitworks . The yoke is now about 3/4 completed! Well it’s finally launch day for my new tunic designed for #blackeryarns using their Shetland 4ply which comes in a range of six coffee inspired shades. I’ve chosen mocha with a contrast of flat white for my design. The tunic is knitted bottom up, in the round and has a turned hem, cuffs and neckband. Short rows are used to raise the back neck and I’ve chosen a flattering a-line shape. The motif is a traditional one but I’ve paired it with a chevron design to give it a contemporary feel. The Blacker yarn is worsted spun which gives it a lovely soft handle and it gives really lovely stitch definition too! Patterns are available from Ravelry, Lovecrafts and as a kit which contains the pattern, a tote and all the yarn needed to complete this design. In den Handstulpen auf dem Foto stecken allerdings gar nicht meine Hände, sondern die meines ehemaligen Partners. Wir sind jetzt auch schon ein Jahr getrennt. Manchmal wird aus Liebe halt was anderes. In unserem Falle wurde es Freundschaft und wir haben uns auch noch viel zu sagen. Gelegentlich kommt er zum Streamen vorbei und ich klapper mit meinem Strickzeugs. Was habt Ihr gerade auf den Nadeln? Ich empfehle ein paar Handstulpen - gehen schnell, verbrauchen Reste und sehen toll aus 🦓🐅😇. 🇺🇸 🇬🇧 at the moment my oven is preheating for my walnut bread and I treat myself to a delicious breakfast coffee. However, it is not my hands that are in the hand cuffs in the photo, but those of my former partner. We've been separated for a year now. Sometimes love turns into something else. In our case it became friendship and we still have a lot to say to each other. Occasionally he comes over to stream and I rattle my knitting. What do you have on your needles right now?
