THE OUTFIT. USA, 1973. Director JOHN FLYNN. Rewatched this as I had just finished Tarantino's book and was reminded of it as I had not seen it in quite some time and he speaks about these films with such enthusiasm that I decidedly gave it another watch and actually enjoyed it more this 2nd time around. 70s films are one of my comfort zones in cinema which you would think would make me a fan of Tarantino but unfortunately I am not a big fan really, only enjoying his first 3 films. While I am constantly aware of his nods and love for 70s films like myself, it never feels like one and just two completely different styles of cinema. "It was on this date three years ago we released our first EP ‘Bring Back the Sound’. On this same exact date last year, we stepped into the studio to record our second EP ‘Rooftops’. And in a few weeks, it’s going to be out in the world for everyone to hear. Building ‘Rooftops’ was probably the most rewarding piece of musical work I’ve been able to create with my closest friends and, quite easily, some of the finest musicians around. I say building because what went into putting this together over the course of the last year took a change in perspectives, growth, learning, letting go, and moving on from each of us. And I guess you could call it a lot but, it is what it is! It brought us closer together. "Hey guys, it's been a long and slow last few months. We've been knee deep in the studio putting together our second studio EP. Recording this EP was an experience that I got to share with my best friends and I will remember it forever. Besides, it's hard to forget an 8ball of emotion. It was in 2018 that I started working on "Rooftops". It was based on things that were happening around me, things that I didn't necessarily understand or like, but got to experience nonetheless. In retrospect, there wasn't anything particularly bad about that phase, but it was just one of those bitter sweet life lessons that lasted a little longer than I would have liked. And like the passing of most storms (often in my case), it was followed by a handful of musical ideas. These ideas turned into songs that we tore apart and put back together many, many times before they took their latest form. There's something about letting something simmer. It gives things time to fall in place, which the three of us (Bharath, Abheet and I) agree is always nice. Being patient is hard but this was worth the wait, and we are really looking forward to share this EP with you.
