K for Keys. This is for the #stilllifepaintchallenge #alphabetdare challenge. I barely made the deadline, there are so many fun challenges this week! You might have seen in my story that I bought yet another new box of gouache. Don’t call Art Addicts Anonymous, I have a perfectly good explanation. I happened to be browsing a second hand goods site, looking for pastel pencils for a friend who shall remain nameless except her name starts with V. 👀 I found the pastel pencils for a great price…but I also found some brand new boxes of Winsor and Newton gouache paints for the bargain basement price of S$15 (about US$11). These normally retail for at least S$60 so how could I pass them up? In fact, I did the only responsible thing and told V about them. The irony is that she passed on the pastel pencils and went with the gouache😆. I tested them out for this small piece. Didn’t want to paint the background so I used #clairefontaine Paint On in Grey. Up to this point, I’ve been using #holbein gouache, so how do the two compare? I find that W&N gouache is more opaque and dries slower which is nice. This set might be quite old though as there is some separation in the paint. Where Holbein wins is in the pigmentation. I find the colours brighter and less chalky. W&N behaves like a traditional gouache while Holbein is closer to a thick watercolour. I’m guessing that if you like illustrative art, you might prefer W&N, whereas if you like the fine art painting look, you’ll prefer Holbein. Unfortunately, the W&N white in the set is Zinc White which is more suitable for mixing so I couldn’t get the bright highlights. I had to resort to my white gel pen. Will test both brands more. It’ll be interesting to see if they play well together. 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘀 | #LumiereDurham artist collective Claire Fontaine is exhibiting at the 60th edition of the Venice Biennale. 👀 Did you know that the title of this year’s #VeniceBiennale is drawn from a series of works made by the Paris-born and Palermo-based collective? The works consist of neon sculptures in different colours that render in a growing number of languages the expression “Foreigners Everywhere”. The collective, made up of the Italian–British artist duo Fulvia Carnevale and James Thornhill, confronts the political impotence and crisis of singularity within contemporary art and society today. 2004년 파리에서 결성, 이탈리아 팔레르모를 기반으로 활동하는 클레어 퐁텐의 작품세계는 질 들뢰즈(Gilles Deleuze)나 조르조 아감벤(Giorgio Agamben)의 사상부터 필경사 바틀비(Scrivener Bartleby), 오드라덱(Odradek) 같은 문학 속 인물들과 궤를 같이한다.

Tetera y taza Buenas tardes, hoy os muestro un ejercicio que hizo Nono @nonogarcia en Fila "Brumas y metal en acuarela" que hice en su momento pero no me gustó el resultado y lo quería repetir. He utilizado el cuaderno de Clairefontaine que es de celulosa y me ha costado mucho crear la atmósfera tan bonita que crea Nono, para estos fondos es necesario usar 100% algodón y seguro queda mejor. Misha said that we should call Peanut’s portrait “Ocean Eyes”! His mom captured those beautiful eyes as he was outside under the trees on the day she found out that he had cancer. She had multiple pictures of him with his gorgeous tawny coat, but I was drawn to this one. The way the light played across his face drew attention to those eyes.
