I've been thoroughly enjoying all the offerings I've been getting from @northparkbeerco. Up until now, I have not had a Stout from them. It was time to switch things up and try not only only my first Stout, but first barrel-aged beer from them. I also thought this was the perfect beer to share. Let's examine my thoughts on this Imperial Stout aged in maple rye and maple bourbon barrels with candy cap mushrooms, coffee, maple syrup, and vanilla. • • Name: Maple Barrel-Aged Brunch Before Dying 🛢🍄☕️🍁☕️ Brewery: North Park Beer Company, San Diego, California 🐻 Style: Imperial / Double Pastry Stout 🍩🍩🍫🍫 Alcohol: 14.4% 📊 • • Poured at an unknown temperature from a 500ml bottle (no date) into a taster glass. Consumed on 06Apr24. TASTE: A big swirl of maple, chocolate candy bar, and sweet coffee first flow forward. Moderate vanilla, bourbon, toffee, and caramel on top of small brown sugar next flows over the palate. Finishes with touches of oak, pecan, and walnut along with a hint of burnt toast, black plum, and fig jam. NOTE: North Park held no punches when it came to the sweetness of the beer. Between the maple, chocolately base, coffee, and vanilla, this was a true Pastry Stout. Ekim Brewing Co - Imperial Coffee Stout. Mount Kuring-gai, NSW 🇦🇺 This is an imperial coffee stout brewed in collaboration with @withamscoffee in Hornsby. Pours a firm, tan coloured head with good retention. Aroma is literally akin to the first whiff of a freshly opened bag of coffee beans. Taste wise, the coffee is big, bitter and roasty but by no means dominates to the point that the palate party ends there. A layer of sweet chocolate notes emerges that brings a welcome variation to the proceedings. Silky smooth and incredibly invisible ABV. The final brewery I visited during last week’s work trip is @trilliumfortpt location of @trilliumbrewing. This spot in the Fort Point neighborhood of Boston, along the Fort Point Channel, which contains several shops, art studios, and galleries. It’s a great spot, but parking is a challenge. Like my recent posts, I had some half pours to be able to try a few different beers. First up is the 15.7% Barrel-Aged Chocolate Covered Peanut Brittle. This BA stout is definitely full of tasty adjuncts that go really well together! It pours a super dark brown with a small, mocha head that fades to a thin ring. The nose delivers roasted peanuts, milk chocolate, and bourbon. The taste follows the nose, reminiscent of a fudgy, caramel covered brownie with peanuts dipped in sweet bourbon. Definitely a big beer, but super delicious! 4.5/5 Next was PM Dawn, a 9% Coffee Imperial Stout. Now, I love coffee beers and this is a great example of one. It pours almost black with a dark mocha head that fades to a ring. The aroma is earthy with black coffee and bakers’ chocolate. The flavor is what you’d get with an expresso drizzled with caramel and vanilla. Medium bodied with a somewhat oily feel, and a light, bitter finish. 4.25/5 Third beer of the stop is Vicinity, an 8% Imperial Hazy IPA. It pours a hazy, dark golden color with a thin white, soapy head. Aroma and flavor delivers big, balanced notes of orange, pineapple, and mango, with a slight bitterness underneath that come from pilsner malts. Medium to full bodied with enough of a dry finish to make you eager for the next sip. 4.25/5 Final beer is Mass Ave, an 8.2% Imperial Hazy IPA hopped with a ton of Galaxy hops and dry-hopped with Mosaic. Pours a hazy, dark, lemony yellow with an aroma and taste that delivers pineapple, orange juice, mango, and grapefruit zest. Mouthfeel is medium, with a soft, coating finish. Another example of a great hazy IPA from Trillium. 4/5 Can’t wait for my next work trip so I can try more new breweries!

If it's any consolation, your breakfast stout not only cheered me up by brilliantly referencing The Muppet Christmas Carol but was very tasty too! No Cheeses for us Meeces was nice and roasty with rich coffee being the main note. The addition of chocolate also perfectly complemented the coffee - offering layers of bittersweet notes.
