Working away on #portrait Sarah Sophia Banks. Playing with the idea of this amazing collector travelling to Australia instead or with her brother Joseph Banks. These ericafolia banksia were named by Carl Linnaeus jnr for their heath-like leaves. Four banksias were collected by J Banks sailing on the Endeavour. I use the living collection at the Australian National Botanic Gardens as my models. Some amazing varieties are growing in a specific banksia garden - still relatively new garden. While I fiddle about with some bigger works, I got the idea yesterday when I was doing my usual Wednesday bush hike to start a smaller sized series called GROUND WALK. So called because since childhood, I have alway walked anywhere looking down - never up or straight ahead. Don’t know why, but it’s me. So, I took 6 photos of the ground detritus from one section of the trail as I hiked it. I’m thinking that each week I’ll take 6 pics, one section of the ground trail at a time, until I’m done, or I do a mega trip up!! The trail in places is steep and rocky; my average trip total per hike is around 8 times atm! 😊 We’ve had some very minor rainfall that’s encouraged the reddish/brown earth to go ochre/pink. En ocasiones, recibo ropas de personas muy próximas a mí, o que les gusta el arte y saben de mi trabajo; o al revés: de gente desconocida (que es cuando compro en bazares y/o tianguis).
