On this day, April 23rd 2010, Hole released their fourth and final studio album, 'Nobody's Daughter', under Mercury Records. It was recorded at Glenwood Place in Burbank, California, Henson Recording in Los Angeles CA and Electric Lady, in New York City, between January 2009 and 2010. 'Nobody's Daughter' is produced by Michael Beinhorn, Micko Larkin and Linda Perry. Three singles were released from the record, 'Skinny Little Bitch', 'Pacific Coast Highway' and 'Letter To God'. The album started when Courtney Love wrote material during a lockdown rehabilitation stay in 2005. Love, Linda Perry and Billy Corgan would begin to record in 2006 with a tentative title, 'How Dirty Girls Get Clean'. It was initially a follow-up to Courtney's debut solo album 'America's Sweetheart'. Love eventually scrapped the project and started writing fresh with Micko Larkin as producer, on what would become Hole's 'Nobody's Daughter'. Aside from Courtney, members of Hole for this album were Micko Larkin, Shawn Dailey and Stu Fisher. A dispute took place between Courtney Love and former Hole guitarist, Eric Erlandson over the record being released under the Hole name. Although, in 2014, Love admitted that releasing the album under Hole was a 'mistake' and that she agreed with Eric. Courtney returned to performing solo shortly after 'Nobody's Daughter'. It released to mixed reviews with The Guardian giving it three out of five stars, MSN music giving it an A- and Spin giving it seven out of ten.
