Le filmage des combats – d’une puissance à l’image et au son inconnue jusque-là –, précipite tous ces enjeux émotionnels, ceux des personnages et du spectateur. have a LOT to say about this singular Gore-Tex raincoat designed by Harriet Winter in 1979! It's historically both important and a *complete outlier*. This coat is the very first high-fashion use of waterproof, breathable Gore-Tex fabric, pre-dating Prada Sport by a full 20 years. (sold) first, about Harriet and her label Yesterdays News: she actually started as a vintage clothing dealer(!) in 1970 when her and her husband Lewis got a contract to stock their own branded vintage boutique inside of department store B. Altman. For a few years, they sold unaltered AND what we would call upcycled clothing--dresses made from 1920s fabrics and recut clothes, pieced-together denim outfits from scraps. Then Harriet decided to teach herself fashion design. Her first collections won her "best new designer" awards--usually given to youngsters. She was in her 40s. Her work was very simple--used few or no closures, relied on merrow-stitched edges and hems and unusually strong shapes for the 1970s. It was strongly minimalist in construction, but well-finished. (pix are of her, a model in her stuff in 1978, and some similar rainwear from 1978) She came at the fashion industry from this fairly outsider perspective, and by 1979 was exploring materials not usually employed by the industry: in particular, upholstery materials and...Gore-Tex! (she did the same coat in both materials, pic 1) up until this point, Gore-Tex was strictly the realm of outdoor gear makers: tents, backpacks, and a few bits of hiking and skiing rain-gear (the first jacket in the stuff came out in 1977).
