Pearl Jam / Dark Matter Plus 7" Dark Matter single bundle 今回のパールジャムのニューアルバム。これはもうバンドにとって色んな意味で転換点になるんじゃないかという代物になりましたね。 パールジャムというバンドはグランジムーブメントの代表格であり、その最大のヒットメーカーであり、今やアメリカを代表するロックバンド・ライブバンドな訳ですけど、ことスタジオアルバムにおけるバンド力学という点で見ると、かなり特殊な部類のバンドではないかと思うんです。 なんというか、他のバンドが普通にやっている『耳馴染みのいい』サウンドのアルバムを頑なにリリースしない、という印象があって。いわば良く見せようとする装飾とか媚びとかがない、自然体かつ唯我独尊というイメージなんですけど。 ボディビルの大会にテカテカの油も塗らずに短パンでフツーに出場しちゃうような。えー、それはちょっと皆んなと違うんですけど、と思われても、まぁパールジャムさんだからなぁ、と許容されていたところがあったと思うんですよね。そういう頑固なところがあるけどスゴい人たちだからな、、、というような。 それもこれも今までの実績があったから、なんですけど、こと日本なんかの状況を鑑みると、来日も長らくしてもらえないし、そこに来て硬派なアルバムを出し続けても、新規ファンの増加やレジェンドとしての凄みが伝わりにくい、という面がアルバムリリースからはあったんではないでしょうか。 そこでアンドリューワットの登場となるわけです。 このベテラン再生職人プロデューサーはオジーやストーンズの近年のアルバムを聴けばわかるように、現代の耳にキッチリハマる絶妙なバランス感覚を作品に与えてくれる人で、いわば最近のキッズがアンドリュープロデュースのベテランアーティストのアルバムを聴いても現代的に違和感なく聴けてしまうように仕上げてくれる訳です。 パールジャムも例外ではなく、いつになく耳に入ってきやすいアルバムになっていますね。アンドリューが緻密な感覚でバンドを上手く導いた末にこうなったという感じがすごく見て取れるような感じです。つまりはパールジャムに上手いことテカテカ油を塗ることに成功した、と、、、 あのパールジャムさんがテカテカの油塗ってきたよ！あんなに嫌がってたのに！塗るとスゲェじゃん！ブーメランパンツも似合ってるぜ！キレまくりだぜ！こりゃかなわねぇな！ってなもんですよ。 やっぱアンドリューワット、やるなぁ。 その再生工場はもう90年代アーティストすら対象になってきたんだなーと時代の流れを感じずにはいられませんが、とはいえ今回のアルバムがこんな感じになったのも、パールジャムが久しぶりに本気でリスナーの心を鷲掴みにしようと能動的に動いた結果なんだと思います。こういうパールジャムを聴けるなんてちょっと思ってもいなかったので嬉しい驚きになりました。 レッチリを脱退したジョシュクリングホッファーがツアーに引き続き参加していて、正直その貢献度はパッと聴きよくわからないのですが、良かったね、と安心。 もうあとは待望の来日、しかないわけです。何とかならんか〜ならんかね〜 #pearljam #pearljamfan #pearljamvinyl #darkmatter #eddievedder #stonegossard #jeffament #mikemccready #mattcameron #joshklinghoffer #andrewwatt #grunge #grungevinyl #grungerock #alternativerock #alternativerockvinyl #rockvinyl #vinylcollection #vinylcommunity #vinylrecords #vinylcollector #vinyladdict #vinyllover #vinylgram #vinyligclub #instavinyl #vinyljunkie #nowspinning

Hach, noch so ne Herzband! #Hysterese - Hysterese III (LP, red #vinyl), 2018 über #ThisCharmingManRecords veröffentlicht. Auch die dritte Selbstbetitelte der Punkband aus Tübingen ist wieder ein ganz wundervolles Album geworden. Poppig, wo es sein muss, Action ohne Ende, immer durchzogen von einer gewissen Melancholie. Der Booty wird geschüttelt! Dabei setzen sich alle Songs gnadenlos im Hirn fest und man ertappt sich ständig dabei, irgendwelche Melodien vor sich hin zu summen. Ohrwürmer erster Güte! Viel des Charmes von Hysterese zieht auch aus dem Wechselgesang, wobei Helen mittlerweile gefühlt den Großteil übernimmt. Die ersten beiden Scheiben gefallen mir noch ein kleines bisschen besser, aber so ist das nunmal bei Bands, die man mehr oder weniger seit Anfang an verfolgt. Ändert nix an der Klasse dieser Scheibe. Ich bin jedenfalls froh, dass die Band jetzt auch in Metalkreisen die Anerkennung erfährt, die ihr gebührt, nicht zuletzt durch den Gig beim diesjährigen Hell Over Hammaburg - ich predige ja schon ewig, dass Hysterese super auf das Festival passen würden! #Radiohead #HailToTheThief #ArtRock #AlternativeRock #Electronic Kid A(2000)와 Amnesiac(2001)에서 과감하게 일렉트로닉 사운드를 전면에 내세워 이게 락인가 싶을 정도의 파격적인 실험을 펼친 라디오헤드는 이후 그들의 여섯번째 앨범인 Hail To The Thief(2003)에서는 타이틀곡 '2+2=5'처럼 다시 일렉기타를 전면에 내세워 좀 더 얼터너티브한 사운드를 보여주는가 하면 두번째 트랙 'Sit Down Stand Up'처럼 여전히 일렉트로닉 사운드 역시 과감하게 펼쳐보인다. 앨범 전체는 얼터너티브와 일렉트로닉이 반반 섞였다고나할까. 내용적으로는 톰 요크가 이 당시 국제정세에 깊은 관심을 가지며 미국과 영국 등 강대국의 전쟁유발에 엄청 분노하고 있었을 때라 앨범명부터가 심상치않고 앨범커버에 나오는 단어들도 당시 신문이나 뉴스에서 자주 사용되던 단어들을 넣은거라 한다. 톰 요크는 널리 알려진대로 독서량이 엄청나고 상당히 철학적이고 문학적이며 정치적 관심도 높아서 가사를 이해하기가 쉽지않은 곡들이 상당하다. 개인적으로도 전문가의 해설없이는 이게 지금 뭘 얘기하려는건지 정확히 이해가 안되는게 솔직히 태반임을 고백(?)한다.ㅎ 대체적으로 느낌으로 가는거지. https://youtu.be/2w6kHS_IRrE?si=unTG38JMXVnQXy9M 2+2=5

This is one of my favourite songs. I first heard it whilst watching the waking dead (🤪🤪🤪 tiny spoiler🤪🤪🤪) it’s the bit in the prison and Hershel is reading the bible as things aren’t going great for the group. It was a great way to use music in a serious to help with feelings. I loved it.

Day 2291 : Radiohead Kid A - 2000 Kid A is the fourth studio album by the English rock band Radiohead, After the stress of promoting Radiohead’s 1997 album OK Computer, the songwriter, Thom Yorke, wanted to depart from rock music. Drawing influence from electronic music, ambient music, krautrock, jazz and 20th-century classical music, Radiohead used instruments such as modular synthesisers, the ondes Martenot, brass and strings. They processed guitar sounds, incorporated samples and loops, and manipulated their recordings with software. Yorke wrote impersonal and abstract lyrics, cutting up phrases and assembling them at random. In a departure from industry practice, Radiohead released no singles and conducted few interviews and photoshoots.
