About Our Curator: Zakeya’s inspiration comes from the beauty and strength of women all over the world, she expresses her sentiments with vivid colours that are derived from tradition, yet she uses modern form in a mélange of styles. Her pieces almost always have a woman at the centre, sometimes in a classic portrait style and other times in a more modern abstract or expressionism style inspired by nature. She loves to work with her fingers to add embellishments and texture to her paintings. Zakeya is a very optimistic person who loves to work in environments which are dynamic and full of life, and these feelings are very much portrayed within her paintings through the use of bright colours. Zakeya exhibited her art works internationally and locally. She recently participated at Beirut International Art Fair and at Le Carrousel du Louvre Art Fair in Paris. She also exhibited her artworks in Bahrain. We're thrilled to announce that Alessandra Bilotta will be presenting her captivating artwork at Empower Her Art Forum! Join us from May 19th to 22nd, 2024, at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Cairo, as we celebrate women's empowerment through art. Alessandra Bilotta is an Italian artist based in Rome. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and has since been involved in various artistic endeavors. From 2011 to 2012, she worked as an assistant and in the Serigraphy-Screen printing course and at the Art Book course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. In addition, she completed her research in the Printmaking and Graphic Art section and also won the XVI International Art-Massenzio award. In 2017, she participated in a Master of Printmaking program to further her studies in the field. Her research focuses on simple signs, such as those carved into walls and streets, as well as the patterns formed by water outflow on sea rocks. She sees these as symbols of the traces that remain in us after our experiences have ended. Her works, therefore, serve as a memoir of something that has flowed away but remains in her memory. It's an honour to have Alessandra Bilotta as part of this inspiring event. About our Advisor: Ambassador Magdy Amer, After serving for 35 years in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, Ambassador Amer was appointed as Senior Adviser to the Governor of the Egyptian Central Bank for International Affairs until late 2018. Prior to that, Amb. Amer was Egypt’s Ambassador to China from 2013 to 2016, where he contributed in boosting Egyptian-Chinese relations. From 2011 to 2013, Amb. Amer served as the Assistant Foreign Minister for Nile Basin Affairs, and from 2008 to 2011 served as Egypt’s Ambassador in Pakistan, where he succeeded in encouraging Pakistani investors to invest in several economic sectors in Egypt. Before his assignment in Pakistan, Amb. Amer was the Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for China, Japan, and the Koreas. In addition to this and throughout his career in the Foreign Service, he served in Germany, Ukraine, Cuba, Chad, Togo, and Ghana. He also completed his post-graduate studies in Germany, Netherlands, and France. Sohayla Elnewishy is born in Alexandria in March 2000, this artist and sculptor graduated with honors from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Alexandria University in 2023. She participated in various exhibitions, including the Ya’qub Sanu’ Exhibition organized by the Egyptian Caricature Association in 2019, the Sculpture Symposium organized by the South Valley Association in 2021, and the First Scenography Exhibition in Alexandria in 2022. Additionally, she took part in Alexandria University’s annual exhibition in 2022 and secured the second prize in the Adam Haneen Sculpture Art Competition in 2023. In 2011, he was appointed Minister of Communication and Information Technology, the first Minister after the 2011 Revolution. Osman had significant contributions in social, demographic and population research during his role as a research professor at the Social Research Center at the American University in Cairo. He is a member of the National Council for Women (NCW), the Vice Chairman of the Arab Union for Statisticians, member of the International Advisory Board (School of Global Affairs & Public Policy – American University in Cairo), member of the Board of Trustees at the French University in Egypt and member in the Board of Directors of Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper. He has an academic background and studies in the areas of Economics, Education and Administration. (Model “Environmental, social and economic”). BSc (Econ), M.Ed., Ph.D. (M). Born in Rio de Janeiro with American citizenship. His first book was about self-organizing systems in virtual environments. He currently resides in New York, where he directs a culture and sustainable economy organization. Specialized in virtual learning environments, he gives courses, seminars, lectures and workshops on various topics related to art, environmental issues and environmental sustainability. He is currently consulting on projects for the Amazon Biennale, with a focus on environmental protection and the Venice Biennale, writing books, working as an online teacher and promoting art and architecture for the “New Normal” in the international market.
