Arguably my FAVORITE part about college is my major!! I am a broadcast journalism and documentary student at Dodge College and the opportunities I have here is so amazing!!! Yesterday, we had our screening for our documentary program Community Voices! It is a two-semester course taught by filmmaker Sally Rubin where we get to work in groups to produce, direct, shoot, and edit a social issue documentary!! Our group had the privilege to travel to Miami to shoot a documentary about Miami’s queer ballroom scene and their resistance against the anti-LGBTQ tensions surrounding Florida! Although my emphasis is Documentary, I love taking classes revolving multi-camera and studio!! I am taking a course called Advanced Multi-Camera and we get to create our own TV show!! Meet Captain Woodrow - an essential member of The Patrolman team. Woody is the best set dog because he doesn't bark or pee on equipment. He also provides much appreciated dog therapy to those in need on set. Woody is a rescue dog of an unknown breed but we think he might be a mix of a pug and a piranha. This past weekend I worked on the Dodge AP “Familiar.” I was brought on as Production Coordinator but asked to be an art PA and then promoted to Set Dresser!!! Genuinely loved this set so so much I am such a sucker for magical realism and the dream-like whimsical aesthetic this film called for. Making a film that takes place pretty much entirely on the road was tricky to say the least. Although we could have done it entirely as a “poor man’s process” using a green screen, it was very important for our creator J. Søren Viuf @jsv_film to communicate the feeling and authenticity of the open road experience inspired by his true love for the highway. In order to film on the actual road safely, it was essential to use a process trailer. This film would not be possible without the expertise and professionalism from PursuitSystems @pursuitsystems and our badass driver @onebadmoose It was an honor to work with these guys who normally work on big action films and high profile music videos! Over a year ago our beloved producer @lenushkavk was casually jogging in her new neighborhood when she came across what looked like an insane collector of police cars' yard. Cruisers of all makes and models lined up the entire street in front of the house. In search of a cruiser for our movie, she knocked on the door... That is how we found @copshopla who turned out to be one of the main vendors when it comes to police car rentals in the industry and not insane at all! In fact, a great guy with a ton of experience in film and very professional. His vehicles are in great condition and there is so much to choose from. Atmospheric Rivers and flooding made winter 2024 in S CA very different. River beds got filled and I got chilled during a video/photo shoot in February. I’ve been away for awhile, working on new stuff, including new photos and illustrations, Spouf! Reports, voice acting, a music video, a campus work/study job and a whole lot of college! A week ago tonight I got to see @kissessweeterthanwine screened in the Folino aka the first @dodgecollege film I worked on as a more major Art-Team position (set decorator)!!! I got brought onto this project back in the summer, helping the lovely Production Designer Ella Hendricks in pre-production, and then working alongside a wonderful art team during its 6 days of filming. SHOUT OUT ART TEAM‼️‼️ @ejhendriks @bukam__ @katieannsvisuals @jesskasparian @vinvalvirg @masondax_ @grahamhammond @jes.sicaa And so many others. ❤️ So proud of @ejhendriks and @jesskasparian for making it through this project with a beautiful set and film to show for it.
