Multi-dog households can be complicated. Are you doing everything you can to ease the pressure? Even dogs that regularly play and enjoy their time together have the potential to get into tiffs now and then. Any of us who have had roommates can likely relate... Set your house up for success by: 1) Being mindful of resources. Are there enough toys, chewies, bowls, beds, etc. for everyone to have their own things? 2) Encouraging alone time. Do the dogs have the opportunity throughout the day to go to a private space, separate from the other dogs? 3) Avoid cramped spaces. Fights are much more likely to break out in smaller spaces. 4) Managing arousal in the house with clear rules and consistency. The puppies had a good day at the @allaboutdogsshow yesterday! Meadow was a absolute Angel as always, Link… was a handful at times when he got stressed because he needed the toilet but doesn’t like to go on a lead but overall was a good boy🤦🏼♀️🙈hopefully one day he will be like meadow 😂🙏 I also got asked if I was a dog trainer with how good meadow was which is a nice compliment but makes me so awkward😂🙈🥰

Today is National Hug Your Dog Day. “Nooo, don’t hug your dog”, I hear them screaming. “Dogs don’t like being hugged” they say. “It will encourage your dog to jump up on you and others which can become a problem” they say. And there is some truth to all of these statements. Yes, some dogs don’t like being hugged. Most dogs don’t like being hugged by just anyone. Many dogs will love being hugged by the person they have that trusting, loving bond with that makes them seek affection. And yes, it may encourage your dog to jump up on you or others if that is what you tolerate, because dogs do what we let them get away with. However, just because hugging our dog is a loving act does not mean we can’t put a modicum of rules around how that is allowed to happen. All of my dogs jump up on me. They are allowed to, by invitation. So yes, if your dog does not like being hugged or you are not willing to put in the training to establish boundaries and clarity when hugging or jumping up is permitted and when it is not appropriate, then you should maybe not hug your dog. We explored a beach… then ventured into a forest! The morning was very quiet thanks to the rain!👀😂☔️ . The dogs had so much fun on the beach! The sea was out enough for us to be right in there and away from people and their dogs! Luna and meadow were playing offlead and zorro had the flexi lead (haters gon hate but if you use them correctly and train your dog how to be on them they’re fine). . Zorro got to dig the sand as much as he wanted and run in the waves! Meadow was running in and out of the waves getting her ball & luna was avoiding the sea but running up the sand hills (she’s a climber 🧗♀️) 😂 . I used my camera here, I’ve got a few more to edit they’re all pretty dark and gloomy but it is what it is we have memories🥰🐶
King Zorro, Princess Meadow & Queen Luna at Kidwelly castle 🏰 . . This was on our second walk yesterday, it’s right by our cottage so we did a little adventure around it then walked along the river. I haven’t yet got my camera out but I will try to today!
