Apparently I like to do #covidcuts #whoknew !!! 😂🤷♀️👩🦱👩🏻🦰 I noticed two weeks ago that my last trim grew pretty quick. So I decided to combine an A-line cut with the #pigtailcut I did last time by @manesbymell and I am THRILLED!!! The A-line was just a simple ponytail that, once cut, I used an electric razor to make it less blunt. THEN I followed the pigtail cut like last time for the added layers leaving my bangs uncut (I like them right now BUT I might trim if I don’t 🤷♀️ we’ll see how it goes). I was honestly not sure I cut enough at first (even though looking at my hands would tell you different!!) ... so I conditioned my hair and put on product (looked better... can see the a-line and curls bouncing... though needed some styling to not clump in the back 😂 ) ...then I diffused it semi-dry for around 5-10mins. And... BAM! It’s perfect 👌 I’m so happy with my cut. Mum says I should tip the girl who did it a little extra... My hair has NOT been happy the past few weeks... I knew it was time for another #quarentinecut for my #curlyhair However... today it WASNT the unicorn 🦄 cut I tried... but @manesbymell s #pigtailcut 🐷 • I watched her YouTube video “how to” a few times PLUS others who had tried it out themselves... and ended up doing it once the OG Mell way... then once more again with a slightly higher pigtail to add more/higher layers. • It wasn’t the same as the unicorn (which felt quite one-and-done). It was a tough year in so many ways... much was lost but at the same time some things were gained. Having a good hair day so decided to share w the media of social things 😊 I’ve been on a hair care journey for a while now... 💜A couple years ago I discovered the thing I loved most in my hair (coconut oil!) was the WORST thing I could use. This was hard to hear & harder to put into action. All curly products seem to love coconut!!! 🥥 (& I LOVE the smell!!) but I made the change w effort. Then shea butter followed suit 😔 (again not easy to avoid on the curly hair journey!) 💜However during covid I wanted to try out some stuff I’d seen girls w my curly hair TYPE trying. So I did. And it FAILED!!! Bad!! 💜I didn’t understand why it wasn’t working... Until I found out my hair POROSITY! Game changer 👏 💜Now I’m again re-educating & unlearning all the things I “knew” to figure out once more what this curly hair needs. It’s a challenge but I can see the rewards slowly but surely peaking through 🥰 💜 Today it was co-wash w a leave-in conditioner. Then on wet hair: Curl cream. Curl spray (put on w my palms). Light Gel. But as the first group of pics will show... they really needed a little help ... they were getting v weighted... SO... For a while now I have been hearing about the Unicorn Cut 🦄 esp for curly girls who like layers (me!). I did my YouTubing this morning & decided I was ready to try it! Day 80 /Last Day of COVID Days of gratitude: (for now) Hi there. So here’s the thing. Last year I did 365 days of gratitude. Posting one post a day of something I was grateful for specific to that day. It was a lovely thing to do. In LA you can feel so stagnant that to see my growth over a year ...and know that possibly being open and thankful for things lead TO that particular growth... powerful. It’s why I thought I should do that again during COVID. But life isn’t the same now is it? Covid.
