🇬🇧 BRITISH F4 - Race 1 winner: DEAGEN FAIRCLOUGH 🇬🇧 Race 2 winner: MIKA ABRAHAMS 🇿🇦 - On the Donington Park national layout, Rodin dominated qualifying as James Higgins took pole for Race 1 and Alex Ninovic claimed pole for Race 3 👀 - In Race 1, Deagen Fairclough stormed from P3 on the grid to lead at the start ahead of Higgins whilst Reza Seewooruthun moved into P3 ahead of Ninovic❗️ - Fairclough proceeded to pull away, having a 1.487 second lead at the end of Lap 1, whilst Ninovic re-passed Seewooruthun for P3. Mercedes junior Yuanpu Cui charged forward from P9 on the grid ➡️ - As Fairclough controlled things, Ninovic attempted to steal P2 from Higgins but the Aussie couldn't make the move. Late on, Cui took P4 from Seewooruthun 🎯 - A late red flag saw the race end a lap early, with Fairclough taking victory by 5.453 seconds ahead of Higgins, Ninovic, Cui and Seewooruthun 💯 - Alpine junior Abbi Pulling was the highest-placed female driver, taking P7 on her return to British F4. Race 2 was delayed due to heavy rain 🌧 - When Race 2 began, Alex Berg immediately passed front row starters Joel Bergström and Cui to take the lead. 🇩🇰 NORDIC 4 - Race 1 winner: MATHIAS BJERRE JAKOBSEN 🇩🇰 Race 2 & Race 3 winner: MADS HOE 🇩🇰 - The Nordic 4 (formerly Danish F4) season began at Padborg Park last weekend, with Mathias Bjerre Jakobsen taking pole position by 0.169 seconds ahead of rookie Marius Kristiansen 👀 - In Race 1, Jakobsen held the lead at the start and stayed in front as drivers squabbled behind him. Kristiansen retired from the race on Lap 3 ❌️ - As Jakobsen controlled the race, 2021 series champion and F5 runner Mads Hoe fought his way forward from P5 on the grid and eventually moved up to P2 ⬆️ - Jakobsen went on to take victory by 2.668 seconds ahead of Hoe, Magnus Pedersen, Sebastian Bach (not the former Skid Row frontman) and Lærke Rønn Sørensen 💯 - Sebastian Schou was on reverse-grid pole for Race 2, but the order changed rapidly on Lap 1 as Sørensen moved forward from P4 to lead ahead of Hoe, who had risen from P8 ⬆️ - A few laps later, Jakobsen took P3 from Pedersen. Meanwhile, Hoe tracked down Sørensen and eventually took the lead as Kristiansen rose from P16 on the grid 🔥 - Despite the inferior machinery, Hoe won by 2.514 seconds ahead of Sørensen and Jakobsen, whilst Kristiansen made up 12 positions to claim P4 ahead of Pedersen 🎯 - Hoe and Jakobsen shared the front row for Race 3, with Jakobsen pulling into an early lead. F1 History: Aryton Senna part 4 - Championship success with Mclaren. 1988 saw turbo engines being banned from 1989 onwards and while most teams switched naturally aspirated engines a year early, Mclaren along with a few others used turbo engines. Mclaren won all but one race in 1988 with Senna winning 8 of them. The Brazilian took his first title despite teammate Alain Prost having more points, with only the best eleven results are counted to the championship. 1989 and 1990 saw Senna involved in title deciding incidents with Prost at Suzuka, with the Brazilian runner up in 89 and champion in 90. 1991 saw Senna comfortably take his third title thanks to seven wins and finishing all but two races in the points. The following season saw Williams with their FW14B in the hands of Nigel Mansell win the championship while Senna dropped to 4th behind the other Williams of Riccardo Patrese and Benetton of Michael Schumacher but still won three races. 1992 also saw Honda leave F1, although Mugen Honda still supplied engines for the next few years. This left Mclaren running customer Ford V8 engines and Senna wasn't sure of the 1993 Mclaren's competiveness. The MP4/8 was a decent car if down on power to the Williams and Benetton and Senna signed a race by race contract worth $1 million per race. He was leading the championship after Monaco but a poor run of results during the second half of the season saw him finish a distant 2nd behind Prost's Williams but still won five races that year. Second in the championship and riding high from his debut podium in Aida, Rubens Barrichello crashed violently in the first qualifying practice session On This Day in 1994; losing control at the 140mph Variante Bassa, Barrichello's Jordan 194 speared towards a sharply angled kerb, which acted as a ramp, sending the car airborne and side on into a tyre wall. 💥 Despite the enormous 95g impact - and a marshal clumsily righting the upturned car - Barrichello escaped with a broken nose and sprained wrist, thanks in large part to FIA medical delegate Professor Sid Watkins, who unblocked Barrichello's airway at the scene. 🫡 Elsewhere, as expected, the circuit tested both car and driver, with spins from Hill, Brundle, Senna, de Cesaris and even the imperious Schumacher. 😵💫
IndyCar racer David Malukas has been released by Arrow McLaren after missing the first 4 races of the season with an injury 👀 - Malukas injured his right wrist in a pre-season cycling accident. Initially, it was thought Malukas may only miss 1 race but the injury has proven worse than first thought❗️ - Malukas was signed by Arrow McLaren for 2024 after Alex Palou reneged on his deal and decided to stay at Chip Ganassi Racing, but Malukas will now depart without starting a race for the team ❌️ - "The past three months have been challenging. I felt privileged to have had the opportunity to drive for Arrow McLaren and regret that it never materialised," said Malukas. - “I would have loved to have continued representing the team and its partners going forward. They have been good, and I appreciate all they have done for me.” - Callum Ilott and reigning F2 champion Theo Pourchaire have filled in for Malukas so far this year. It hasn't yet been confirmed who will replace Malukas permanently 🔄 - “I’ve done everything possible to speed up the rehab process. Treatments, physiotherapy, strength training. But my recovery has taken longer than anticipated," added Malukas - “Every injury is different, and every body heals at a different pace. I’ll turn my full attention to getting back to 100 percent and then prove that I am ready and able to compete to win.” - This is a terrible shame for Malukas, who impressed in his 2 full seasons in IndyCar before 2024. ~BAR 01~ The car that is most known for the controversy surrounding its livery and sponsorship. BAR introduced two cars and each of them had a different look, sponsored by two different cigarette companies, which had the same owner. This was banned by FIA, since both cars had to look the same. It ended up with BAR making a zip in the middle of the car and placing one partner on each side. Otherwise the car didn’t score any points, even though it was a point contender on many occasions, running high as third place. It suffered from horrible reliability, with Jacques Villeneuve retiring from first eleven GPs. Other drivers in the 1999 season were Ricardo Zonta, whi was replaced for three races by Mika Salo. Pole-man Scott McLaughlin got away well ahead of Will Power, whilst Christian Lundgaard took P3 from Pato O'Ward 👀 - Rinus VeeKay hit Sting Ray Robb and a 3-car clash ensued, with Jack Harvey also involved. On Lap 2, Santino Ferrucci made contact with Colton Herta 💥 - O'Ward went off track and dropped to P24 on Lap 2. VeeKay was penalised for causing the Turn 1 incident ⚠️ - On Lap 6, a caution period came when O'Ward took out Pietro Fittipaldi. Several cars dived into the pitlane before racing resumed on Lap 11❗️ - Mclaughlin led away ahead of Power, Lundgaard, Felix Rosenqvist and Marcus Armstrong. O'Ward took a drive-through penalty 🚫 - Alex Palou moved up to P4, passing Armstrong and then Rosenqvist. On Lap 18, Scott Dixon spun off and dropped to P18 ⬇️ - Power then went off and lost P2 to Lundgaard, whilst Ferrucci seemingly attempted to collide with every car on track 😬 - Mclaughlin came in on Lap 28 and retained the net lead. On Lap 33, Josef Newgarden went off after a battle with Armstrong 🔄 - On Lap 44, another caution period came when Alexander Rossi's right rear tyre detached. Again, several drivers pitted before the race resumed on Lap 49 👀 - Palou led Rosenqvist, Armstrong, Ferrucci and Graham Rahal. On Lap 55, Robb crashed and yellow flags returned 💥 - Ferrucci led ahead of Linus Lundqvist at the restart, before pitting on Lap 66. Lundqvist came in on Lap 70, leaving McLaughlin in the lead 💯 - McLaughlin was set for a comfortable win until Christian Rasmussen spun with 5 laps left.
