A couple weeks ago I decided to go "yolo" and spontaneously go see @manntra_official @musicsoulbound and @floriangreyofficial at a sold-out Bahnhof Pauli in Hamburg - life got a bit busy after so I only just got to post proper about it now. The show itself was absolutely killer, sadly I don't have that many pics of the night because 1: I was too busy vibing and 2: I wasn't in the best place to get pics/video First up were Florian Grey - I've listened to them on/off for a couple of years and really enjoyed what I heard so I was excited to see what they were like live - I had heard only good stuff and they did not disappoint! Their stage-presence was really great and the performance all my expectations had hoped for. My favourite songs were Bluecifer, Destroying Kingdoms & Starless Skies (absolutely magical live). Next up were Soulbound who were added in as super special guests for certain shows. I've seen these guys before, they deliver every time and really just roll with it to the best of ability if they're thrown a curveball - in this case their guitarist Felix was out of commission for the show, making them rely on backing-tracks. That didn't mean any less of a performance though - instead they invited brave fans on stage to give it all and rock out to their songs in an air-guitar battle royale. It was so much fun to see. Favourite songs were Toxic, Addicted To Hell & Devil. Finally, Manntra is one of those bands that slightly take you by surprise - on one hand they have this heavy, occasionally industrial feel to them - on the other they do not shy away from their Croatian roots as they throw in lyrics inspired by folklore and elements of balkan folk-music. The venue was literally at boiling point by this time with people headbanging and dancing and having a good time. They played my favourite track Barren King which made my evening. Other highlights included Nightmare, Morana & Naranca. It was my first time seeing them, it won't be the last! You can tell by the way I'm holding the drum sticks that I have NO IDEA what I'm doing. 😂 When I was 17 years old, I owned E-drums for a fair while and was determined to learn how drumming works. I think my motivation lasted for half a year until I realized I am absolutely unable to coordinate arms and legs separate from each other. Which, of course, is key to playing the drums. Big KUDOS to @yannikragefleming for a spontaneous little drum "lesson" during the Florian Grey M&G yesterday in Cologne. I once again got aware that I absolutely admire drummers - and will never be one, no matter if I want to. 🤣 Thanks for the endless patience and being such a cool dude in general! But to the essentials: Our Guitarrero Fede alias @vonmarengo is no longer a member of Florian Grey since December ‚23. This was a mutual decision and all is well. Sometimes life priorities and goals change, both privately and professionally. Above this musical decision, however, there is still a deep friendship, nothing other than brotherly love and respect for each other and decisions. Therefore we wrote this statement together. So let’s not be sad, let’s sing a beautiful farewell song together to remember seven great years together full of funny and wonderful memories and stories.
