How long has it been?) focusing on ska/punk rock with my new band @madlifecrisisberlin and doing musical standup comedy, I'm very happy to take it back to my roots for a moment and do a solo singer/songwriter set for the art gallery opening of the talented @this_is_sari_prieto ! Well, here's what I've been spinnin' as of late: . @theproclaimersofficial - Sunshine on Leith | I have been listening to this album and live cuts from it like mad. This album has always been in my peripheral awareness, but after giving it proper attention I am now fully aware of it's excellence. "I'm on My Way" is my favorite song, in general, at this time. . @nicklowesdog - Abominable Showman | I have long regarded this as one of my least favorite NL efforts. As it turns out, this was unfair of me. "Wish You Were Here" pulled me back in and proved to me that this is in fact a great record. It's still not in my top picks, but that ONLY speaks to the quality of NL's catalog. . @acdc - High Voltage | The lady and I have been listening through our CD collection in alphabetical order. Almost everyone's collection starts with AC/DC, right? This one rules and is loaded with rock standards. . @aesoprockwins - Labor Days | Was alternative rap born with this album? I can't claim to be overly familiar with AR's catalog, but this one is a banger. It's though provoking, well-crafted, and gritty. Without this album (and many others) I would not have pursued rap, or at least not in the way that I did. . While ‘Harvest’ by Neil Young was my very first post on this platform, the first album that really started it all was ‘Deja Vu’ by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young😍Looks like I’m on a Neil Young streak (last post as well)! But this might be the last one for a while, I think ;) ‘Deja Vu’ sparked my love for music when I was a teen, especially for the older rock music from the 60s and 70s long before I was even born (‘93). A large part of my collection now echoes that golden age of music. I adore the whole vibe of this album. With classics like ‘Carry On’, ‘Teach Your Children’, ‘Our House’, ‘4 + 20’, and ‘Helpless’, it’s a 10/10 album for me. When I was 15 I especially liked ‘Almost Cut My Hair’ (and I still do). Y es que Neil Young le dio otro punto de vista a la banda, antes de abandonar el barco, en 1971 por las disputas continuas de algunos miembros. La verdad, es que este trabajo salió después de la separación de la banda. El disco tuvo una gran aceptación y llegó al número 1 en USA a las pocas semanas de su lanzamiento. El disco es un recopilatorio de varios conciertos de su gira norteamericana. Todo un lujo de grabación, diferenciada cada cara por cada uno de los componentes del grupo. Samuel Roy Hagar (born October 13, 1947), also known as the Red Rocker, is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. In the early 1970s he was a member of the hard rock band Montrose before launching a solo career, scoring a hit in 1984 with „I Can’t Drive 55“. He replaced David Lee Roth as the second lead vocalist of Van Halen in 1985, but left in 1996. He returned to the band from 2003 to 2005. In 2007, Hagar was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Van Halen. His musical style primarily consists of hard rock and heavy metal.

Repost from @lostcanyonsla • Flash Back to the instantly recognizable cover of Carole King’s 1971 album Tapestry; there is King, sitting barefoot in the window of her home in Laurel Canyon and next to her is her cat staring straight into the camera. The other day I came across the 2012 LA Times obituary for the photographer Jim McCrary, that gives us a little insight into how this most photogenetic cat - whose name, it turns out, was Telemachus - managed to become a cover star. The story goes that McCrary was about to take the photo of King by her window when he asked if the cat sleeping nearby could be part of the shot. McCray had remembered the results of a Kodak survey that found “after children, the most popular thing people photographed was their own cats,” he later said in an interview. “I saw a cat, and I wanted to get something good.” With King’s permission, he picked up Telemachus and his little pillow and carried him over to the window. McCrary managed to take just three photos before the cat slipped away, but it only took one to become one of the most iconic album covers of the 1970s. “You learn a lot about people as a photographer,” McCrary said in a 1971 LA Times profile on King. “When you turn the camera on some people, it is a frightening experience for them. It brings out their insecurities.
