Stuck • The Lubber Fiend • 11/04/24 I discovered @stuck.chi during the worst of the pandemic and their slicing narrative of the worst of late capitalism provided a fitting soundtrack for many a lockdown walk around the park. Fast forward a few years, this was the Chicago four-piece's first UK run and their Newcastle debut had been a long time coming. Twitchy set and sophomore album opener 'The Punisher' is an ode to the delusional cultists cheering on the never-ending hellscape and could be applied to disaster populists either side of the Atlantic, while the scraping 'Planet Money' is a more headlong shimmy into the bleak mechanisms of our society. Stuck have a knack for delivering exceptional singles and March's 'Deep Tunnel' is no different, that and its taut B-side 'AITA' pitched somewhere in the middle, with an even balance of tunes from the latest LP, 2021's 'Content That Makes You Feel Good' EP and their deeply underrated debut 'Change Is Bad'. Vocalist and guitarist Greg Obis' wailing and howling sing-speak guides these jerky numbers, with sheet-metal riffs, angular and barbed basslines and pneumatic drumming bridging the finest components of post-punk and noise. There was a terrific merger of 'Playpen of Dissent' and 'Wrong Question', seamlessly trickling into one another and by the final quarter, the quartet had locked into fifth gear for the crashing 'Invisible Wall'. They always had to finish with one of 2022's best singles, 'Do Not Reply', a rare dash of anti-capitalist jubilance that bleeds into euphoria. When the world is on fire, you need a band that resonates with your own reciprocated cynicism and Stuck will always be that.

samlrc - A Lonely Sinner (2024) Brazil might be considered the "Come to Brazil" capital of the world, but not gonna lie, their indie scene is pretty amazing. With this new album from samlrc, she gives us a blend of shoegaze, electronic, and a whole lotta post rock. Lyrics about samlrc's personal struggles, this another personal release I believe has a lot of people relating to it. Highly recommend it 8/10 #musicreview #review #samlrc #alonelysinner #postrock #shoegaze #electronica

She has been traveling the country on a national tour, delivering continuous stellar performances backed by an incredible four-piece band to support her latest album, Mother Road. Right from the start, the audience knew it was going to be a chaotic and thrilling show as they saw the stage adorned with Route 66 road signs, cacti, billboards, and other Southwest desert-themed installations. ” Review and photos by @camilleisisgermain @graciepotter @showbox #gracepotter #gracepotterlive #gracepotterconcert #graciepotter #motherroadtour #gracepottermotherroad #gracepottertour2024 #gracepottermotherroadtour #theshowbox #theshowboxseattle #showboxpresents #diveinmagazine #concertreview #concert #livemusic #concertphotography #concertphotographer #musicphotography #musicreview #womeninjournalism #womanownedbusiness #lgbtqbusiness #lgbtq+

Thanks everyone who’s been listening to “Rubáiyát”! It’s not easy to pitch a 20-minute song to playlists so it’s been cool to see it racking up plays organically! Here’s a few things people have said about the Rubáiyát (full reviews in the bio): “Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám is an ambitious project, and it is a resounding success. The two epics weave beautiful lyricism with dynamic and exciting instrumentals. There is a clear thematic throughline on each song, with peaks and troughs of drama and emotion.” — The Elite Extremophile “A jewel of progressive rock […] worth every minute invested listening to it.” — Zona Emergente “Calling Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám an ambitious project is an understatement. Wicke came out of nowhere with this one, delivering an amazing piece of musical art for the ages.“ — Jeff Polk, LEO Weekly ——— #louisvillemusic #louisvilleky #louisvillebands #progressiverock #progrock #newmusic #musicreview #louisville #rubaiyat

#jpegmafia #lp #offline #albumreview #musicreview #musikpodcast #fwc

In New Orleans tradition, Mardi Gras, also known as Shrove Tuesday is the final day of Carnival (also known as Shrovetide or Fastelavn); it thus falls on the day before the beginning of Lent on Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras is French for “Fat Tuesday”, reflecting the practice of the last night of consuming rich, fatty foods in preparation for the Christian fasting season of Lent, during which the consumption of such foods is avoided. During the liturgical season of Lent, Christian believers have historically abstained from rich foods such as meat, eggs, lacticinia (dairy products), and alcohol—a practice that continues in Eastern Christianity (in denominations such as the Coptic Orthodox Church) and among Western Christian congregations practicing the Daniel Fast. Shrovetide provided Christians with the opportunity to use up these foods prior to the start of the 40-day fasting season of Lent. Modern celebrations of Mardi Gras are of course now known for far more of a party focus. I think you can sense sometimes the fine line between sin and sensation, when you’re slow enough to notice how it can’t kill you or others. She definitely needed to hear everything I said last year in regards to slower living and not stimulating to avoid issues, just via post, as NOLA is again known as an addict’s haven, a woman with her experiences needed caution just studying there. In my experience of “masking” as a creative I’ve always been able to wear the guises of the many people I’ve come to meet and respect. I think it’s clearly, quite a legacy my ex has let me leave. For these (🏳️‍🌈), these (☪️✝️✡️) and these (🇮🇳). The occupation doesn’t just cease from confrontation. There’s unity to be found too in order for the occupation to end. Big TKS & Brilxonic — ELLM / 2024 / Pop Trap Big TKS & Brilxonic are a hip hop/trap production team and for the most part—I found their debut “ELLM” to be immersive and very professional. It has this cloudy and freewheeling vibe and there’s some diversity with how they produced it. I also thought the sequencing was well done—there’s a clear order to these tracks. “Crack the Code” is the best opener to go with because of its energy and “Another Life” is an ideal closer being the haziest on the album. However—not all of these features hit for me with some being flat out terrible and it really drags the project down. Some certainly do—Kashways was good. I think that Big TKS & Brilxonic made a loving and passionate Metro Boomin inspired album here. They have a future in production and I will certainly listen to their next album. Keep working. I recommend this to any amateur producer—this is how you do it. #trapmusic #musicreview #albumreview #trapproducer #musicrecommendation

St. Vincent — Daddy’s Home / 2021 / Psych Soul “Daddy’s Home” is a standout in St. Vincent’s wider discography—as in that it tries to capture a specific era of music—the early 70’s broadly including funk, soul, and psych. While this may come off as simple pastiche to many listeners—I found it to be appropriate given the inspiration of Annie Clark’s father’s release from incarceration. Never has a St. Vincent album sounded so warm, personal, and elaborate. When a person goes away for a while—you sometimes look backwards. Impassioned vocal performance. Phenomenal album—and likely Antonoff’s best production work. #psychedelicsoul #annieclark #stvincent #albumreview #musicreview #jackantonoff #mucore

Today spirit is saying; “what is healthy pleasure, and how do you engage in it?” We can get so wrapped up in trying to solve every little problem around us sometimes that if we don’t remember to take things step by step and enjoy other things outside of these problems? We very easily create even more issues for ourselves. What is it you enjoy doing outside of the work/lightwork you currently do, and why? There’s a fine difference between stimulating to avoid our problems and enjoying rest and fun times so we can solve our problems easier down the line, as well as just generally give ourselves space and show ourselves we deserve to be treated well by ourselves. You never need a reason to be good to yourself. My regards💕 Pc: itskatylondon (🇺🇸💊) Music by: @janetjackson (🇺🇸✊🏾) ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 🇺🇸: Denver, Colorado (itskatylondon ), Gary, Indiana (@janetjackson )

From the first strum of the distinctively toned guitar, we get a grunge/post-punk sensation from Elita’s song Sour Switchblade. Released in 2021, the single became part of her Anxiety Angel EP along with 4 other direfully named tracks. The songs repeated chord pattern stays prominent throughout, whilst other instrumentation gets added along, making the track feel even more gloomy and dismal. Elita’s reverberated, slightly distorted voice really creates a menacing and intimidating feeling for all listeners. She takes us along a journey as if she’s talking to “you”, with the constant use of the word in all verses. This gives a personal tone towards the listener. #sourswitchblade #sourswitchbladeelita #elita #anxietyangel #anxietyangelelita #music #musicreview #musicjournalism #musiclover

I think this may have been one of my sister’s first albums. I remember us both singing and dancing along to it as children, likely singing lyrics that children really shouldn’t be singing. I listened to this with nostalgia-tinted eardrums today, and it is still a pretty great pop album. You Drive Me Crazy has a ridiculously tasty guitar solo that I didn’t remember it having. Overall, it may sound very much of its time, but I still quite enjoy this. #britney #britneyspears #hitmebabyonemoretime #albumreview #musicreview #musicisitgoodthough #musicjournalism #musicislife #1001albumsyoumusthearbeforeyoudie #popmusic #90spop

< EL TOBAGÁN - CRÁNEO & BEJO > 2023 29:49 boom bap / hip hop / jazz rap ~ Ii was already somewhat familiar with Bejo's work before, but i reached for this album because of Cráneo. this album is not very long, lasting only 30 minutes, but the whole time is filled with great material. the first thing i noticed was the synergy between the artists, they both have slightly different styles and on this album they managed to find a common language and it worked out really well. the same goes for the songs, each one arranged in a unique way and yet they come together brilliantly. this release is all about charisma and fun, but there is also room for some quieter songs and lyrics. all in all, this is a very concrete dose of awesome music. ~ my favourite tracks: - NADA - TRUMAN - UN CLAVO - ATMÓSFERA 4 / 5 ☆

review of @fullofhell "coagulated bliss" full video review link in our bio coming soon . . . Full Of Hell is from Maryland and Pennsylvania released "coagulated bliss" on April 26, 2024 on @closedcasketactivities . . . About Full Of Hell: Full of Hell is a metal band formed in 2009 and based in Ocean City, Maryland and central Pennsylvania. Their sound is an amalgam of 90s grindcore/metalcore, sludge metal and noise; in addition, Full of Hell incorporates industrial and power electronics, which is usually interspersed throughout their relentless grinding death, although they have released a handful of power electronics-only recordings. They were signed to A389 Recordings, through which they released two full length albums, Roots of Earth Are Consuming My Home (2011) and Rudiments of Mutilation (2013). During that era, they also put out split EPs with Code Orange Kids, Goldust, and Calm the Fire. As previously stated, Full of Hell have also released power electronics recordings, some of which are contained within the four part FOH NOISE series, each volume of which was originally released on cassette through various labels; and the others are splits with The Guilt Øf... and Psywarfare.
In 2014, Full of Hell signed with Profound Lore and recorded a full-length collaboration album with Merzbow as their debut release with the label. Full of Hell has also since collaborated with The Body twice, put out the Amber Mote In The Black Vault 7", a split 7" with Nails, a couple of live tapes, and released a solo LP (the first in 4 years) entitled Trumpeting Ecstasy—their second full length with Profound Lore. Most recently, Full of Hell released a limited split 7" with Intensive Care.

rating music please don’t hurt me #24 | từ vực thẩm đến rìa ánh sáng - @thecassette_official …i swear i would never procrastinate ever again, i hope. also for the rest of my vietnamese series, i’ll not write in vietnamese, unfortunately for my non-existent vietnamese audience. this is for the ease of my time since im busy all the time… …overall, this album has everything i love about vietnamese alternative rock - the album has the positive ballad feeling with sweet dreamy chord progressions, its like a more mainstream drop nineteens. the two first and last tracks, all named by the album title acts like the two polars, completely opposite from each other, and the body tracks are the stepping stones to go to the two places... read the full album here: https://www.tumblr.com/icravemusicx0x0/748970671135162368/rating-music-please-dont-hurt-me-24-t%E1%BB%AB-v%E1%BB%B1c #rmpdhm #music #musicreview #album #albumreview #albumcover #tuvucthamdenriaanhsang #thecassette #alternative #alternativerock #rock

Ecco2k - Crush Resist (CR_2015) (2015 - electro-industrial, power noise, deconstructed club, industrial techno, cloud rap, alternative r&b) "A carbonated drink explodes out of your nose" If his more recently popular projects radiate flavors of strawberry smoke and androgynous tears, then Ecco2k's first solo release simply tastes of soda syrup, copper blood, and rainwater. Buried deep into the clogged arteries of the bravely trailblazing Drain Gang collective, the Crush Resist EP is an origin story of the strangest sensory circumstances. Whereas the generational studio album ℮ remains a benchmark release in cloud rap history, whisking up its rhythms and rhymes in whirlwinds where instruments and words would melt into a hypnotizing mush, Crush Resist has its sights set on rockier and less navigable horizons. As alien as it sounds now to hear his voice over surgical spurts of artificial noise, the likes of which rival the loudest whirring drill on a dentist's spotless table, the truth is that Ecco2k himself feels right home here in the heart of homemade chaos. His howls in this half-tamed hurricane are only three in number, their collective lifespan lasting a mere seven minutes, but the performer's chameleon-like qualities as a rapper, producer, singer, and star are all brought into the fold with surprising nonchalance. 1st Crush [Antifreeze] feels immediately like a manufactured sugar rush. Its every crevice leaks and laps like a lake of unadulterated adrenaline, miles faster than the pouring rate of honey or molasses but taking on the texture of those substances nonetheless. 3rd Crush [Crush Resist] is a punch to he face whose subsequent clotted nosebleed is spat through grinding gears of industrial techno. If there is any semblance of Drain Gang's typical cloud rap here in the extended play's unrelenting centerpiece, it takes the form of a thick translucent tar rather than a molecular wisp. With the stormy electronics of 7th Crush [1st Kiss], Ecco2k concludes his introductory outing on a high. It might have a different flavor than the majority of the rest of his work, but Crush Resist is a crash course in Ecco2k's extensive and experimental backstory. ★★★½

高橋幸宏 [Yukihiro Takahashi] - Neuromantic (1981 - new romantic, techno kayō, synthpop, art pop, sophisti-pop) "The oval opal lodged in the apex of your spell-casting staff" From their inception as group in 1978 all the way to their disbandment in 2012, all three members of Yellow Magic Orchestra excelled in their own school of musical sorcery. Haruomi Hosono broke down the art of city pop to its most fundamental building blocks, playing with the ways in which these puzzle pieces could snap together to make experimental shapes. Ryuichi Sakamoto made himself comfortable in alien planets of disco and jazz, but he also mastered modern classical music and its applications within a dance-oriented atmosphere. Yukihiro Takahashi accomplished all of these things and more. On top of following up his bandmates' individual pursuits, Takahashi played a crucial role in expanding Yellow Magic Orchestra's revolutionary mindset toward pop and everything that this way of thinking would come to inspire. Shortly after Tokyo's most thrilling trio got off the ground with their first few studio LPs, this multi-instrumentalist began his own path down a future generation's memory lane. After the black tie event that took place in his lounge-loving debut Saravah! and the vaguely ska-related, "all in good fun"-style noodling of Murdered by the Music (音楽殺人), Yukihiro Takahashi fulfilled his dreams with 1981's Neuromantic, a fascinating foreign take on the United Kingdom's new wave-y New Romantic scene in everything from name to genre to colorful visual aesthetic. The Yellow Magic Orchestra sound is not abandoned in this solo album, and both Haruomi Hosono and Ryuichi Sakamoto appear in the credits of the record as keyboardists and supporting session players, but Takahashi's history with the group feels more like training modules for Neuromantic's real deal. If it's possible to take something seriously when that thing is as fun and lighthearted as Neuromantic, then all three major artists succeed at such a feeling. For an album full of Japanese spins on English styles, Neuromantic shows off a flexible fluency in its titular technique. These are Yukihiro Takahashi's greatest hits. ★★★★
