Baha Betty, Westfield Newmarket it is very rare that I choose to face the absolute pandemonium of the Newmarket Westfield food court, particularly on a long weekend, so I typically opt for the calm of the restaurants on the rooftop, and on this day it was Baha Betty. Mother and I shared the pulled beef nachos, fried pickles and halloumi tacos. Once again, the halloumi tacos contained my old nemesis, coriander. I’d say it was also lacking a bit of halloumi, with only one piece per taco. The pineapple was a lovely touch but it didn’t stand a chance against the pungent, fragrant coriander :( As an avid pickle lover I’ve always wanted to try fried pickles. I had imagined pickle chips but out came pickle spears, with a dense and heavy batter and in the company of some straight up cheddar cheese. The batter was nice and crispy but overall this was just so so so heavy and rich with nothing to balance it out :( sadness. Nachos were 100% the highlight, can’t go wrong with pulled beef which they were super generous with. Could’ve definitely used more of the accompaniments (the day I don’t say this about nachos will be a historic day in torieatsandcritiques history) but these were super moreish anyways!! I also tried a Shirley Temple which is supposedly ginger ale, grenadine, lime and a maraschino cherry but I’m pretty sure I just got a kind of raspberry lemonade - which I’ll always enjoy. The other version sounds pretty sick tho 🤪 Super lovely service and cool atmosphere but the food just didn’t do it for me :( and for that, ⭐️⭐️.5/5
