After a couple weeks at sea I was itching to stretch the legs. I made the most of a 24hr opportunity and wasn’t disappointed with the deer numbers at spot x. The roaring was going off and it made for a very sleepless night! This nice old stag was sporting a good even head but very poor condition as you would expect so very bit of meat was destined for jerky to mask that lovely stag scent. Well, that’s my snapper fishing all wrapped up for the year. November in Tasman bay is notorious for big, fat, pre-spawn snapper and it’s easy for this to be utilised by recreational fishos to get an easy feed. In the last week or so I have fed not only my friends and family, but also given the opportunity for others to do the same. But now it’s time to hang up the rods for the year and put the focus back to diving and hunting (and house renovations). These fish will sustain us until at least March next year, and the ones we left to spawn and swim will hopefully sustain the breeding population for years to come.
