……then soon after catching the cat on a @moultriemobile trail camera I was set up and calling first with a FoxPro X24 using a rabbit distress sound then I switched to a @slayercalls external reed cow elk call and made loud bird distress sounds for 20 seconds and that’s when a gray fox came busting down a trail right for me at full speed and it was clearly running scared so I immediately got in the gun and that’s when the cougar sprinted into view moving downhill right behind the fox and I hit it in the chest with a 175 grain AccuBond at 16 yards-think of those wildlife films where cat’s are pursuing prey at full speed to kill it that’s how fast it was closing to where I sat on the ground–and I quickly cycled another round with the cat now 7 yards from me but it instantly regained it’s feet and vanished into thick cover and that’s when I went back to the truck and grabbed a shotgun for the tracking job and found the cat 30 yards away in thick cover dead then we had backstrap for dinner that night and a roast for lunch and shanks for dinner the next day and I’ll be writing up the story which was one of the most incredible hunting experience of my life for the next issue of Predator Nation magazine complete with some of Tiff’s awesome cougar recipes the end! . . #thehunt #predatorhunting #predator #predators #cougarhunting #cougar #trailcam #trailcamera #trailcams #hunting #eatwhatyoukill

Spring Wild Turkey White Bolognese…ish If you think wild Turkey is too tough or you want to use those thighs…grind that meat. I suggest a more coarse grind so it doesn’t turn into a paste like substance though. Dice and fry bacon then add the ground Turkey in to brown. Add the leeks, fennel, diced carrots, sliced celery and minced garlic and stir in to the cooked meat. Season with @huntchef #featherduster, add some Italian seasoning and cover with water. (Just enough to hit the top of the ingredients) Let this simmer until the carrots are tender. Add 3Tbs butter, when melted add 3Tbs flour stir until well incorporated then add 1 Cup of heavy cream. And 1 cop of shredded Gruyère cheese. Stir until it begins to thicken and the cheese is melted then add sugar snap peas and asparagus. I had another goal on my latest Whirinaki trip and that was to make a primitive Eel spear out of all natural materials found in the bush and take a decent Tuna with it. I made it out of a fallen Lancewood and vines with my Leatherman and a saw and fire hardened it over the campfire with a few beers. Of course Stuey was keen so he made a crook to help flick it out onto the creek bank , we took some liver from my Deer and off we went. The Eel came in cautiously to the bait and the spear worked faultlessly and stoned it on the spot.
