Conversations with ... production pigs I was lucky and had the opportunity to talk to some pigs from a traditional farm. It was an experience that moved me enormously deeply. Their energy radiates kindness, attention and interest. I feel how they see and hear everything, and how much they follow what's around them - not out of fear but out of curiosity. In contact with the pigs, I experience how incredibly intelligent they are. Curious and insistent on contact and stimuli. The most powerful feeling, however, is boredom - there is nothing to do, nothing but to wait. I feel that it frustrates them deeply because they are so intelligent and they have no way to live out this need properly. They want more toys, something to do, mess with or bite. The next thing I experience, which surprises me, is that they do not enjoy each other very much. Unlike the dairy cows, which felt like one big herd, the pigs mostly felt like they were trying to avoid each other. There isn't quite enough space to enjoy each other, there isn't really an opportunity to do anything together, so they all feel a bit tired of each other's company - and want more peace and quiet. It feels more like competitors for the available resources than it feels like comrades with whom you share the day. Therefore, I experienced great loneliness on their part. Toys and activities so they can do something together will be a help - and more space. In meeting the sows who had piglets, I experienced great pride in being a mother - but also enormous frustration at not feeling she could do it her way. "Don't you think I can take care of my own?" She asks sadly. She experiences it as a distrust of her, and it makes her doubt whether she is doing well enough. “How can I be a mother to some, under these conditions, when I cannot do what feels natural to me? When I can't even be nose to nose with them”. Great sadness and a desire for the opportunity to be a mother on her own terms.

3 months without our Panda Bear💔 The last physical picture I have with my sweet girl-The place we found her lying and not breathing, her sister was lying right by her side in the spooning position🥺 and I know she was comfortable and felt the love when she took her last breath the first night on our family vacation🙌🏻❤️Truly got to say goodbye to everyone she loved and extra cuddles and goodbyes with mommy and daddy that night when her body was shutting down. I whispered to her, “It’s okay to go Panda” and she heard me. It was gradual and fast at the same time. We knew it was coming the last few months and weeks and then the day we left for vacation she stopped eating, drinking water, and going to the bathroom which was not like her at all as she did that excessive, especially with her Cushings disease. I am just so grateful for the almost 14 wonderful years we had with her🙌🏻 She was truly one of a kind with that human personality and the sweetest of souls❤️ Goodness, do my boys and I miss our sweet girl! #bostonterrier #missingyou #furfriendsarethebestfriends #firstbaby

I used to be so scared.. One night I was lying in the tent on our camping holiday with the horses and I thought about how scared I used to be. I have always been drawn to nature, and when I was young, I often wanted to sleep in a tent - but it always ended up with me having to go inside the house, because the sounds I could hear made me uneasy. My brain imagined all the dangerous things that could be just outside the tent. This time instead I pulled out my phone recorder when I heard an exciting howl, curious to see if I could identify it later. A spider had strayed into the tent, and as a teenager I, like many others, was afraid of spiders. I called my father, who would immediately come and help the little creature out of my room - and if someone sat on me, I would run around screaming until it fell off. This time I could tell him telepathically that I wanted to help him, ask him to climb into my hand and ask him where to put him down. In the middle of breakfast, a wasp came to visit. As teenager I hated being visited by the wasp, and my parents had given up eating out with my sister and I because we would run around screaming when a wasp visited the dinner table. Now I can just calmly walk away, or even lie a little food for it, so that it sits next to my food instead of on my food. It struck me that I am not at all as afraid of nature and animals as I used to be. But I think it was because I neither knew nor understood nature. When you can talk to the animals and feel their hearts beating, feel their emotions and see that they, like me, are just trying to get through life, it's hard to stay scared. When you realize that the spider is also a being, with thoughts and feelings, that gets scared when I scream, that would rather take care of itself and live in peace, then it's hard to be scared. Or when you see how productive the wasp is, and that it will not hurt us unless we hurt it, it is difficult to remain afraid. I think my fear has lessened as my understanding has grown. And what a gift it is to be able to be in nature and enjoy it to the fullest!

As I gaze upon this photo I can’t help but feel the sense of innocence, purity and blessings emanating from this precious boy! It brings a smile of hope to my heart which feels like a soothing balm after such a challenging year. Can you relate? Desmond Tutu said, “Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all the darkness.” 🕯️ I believe there is light in every situation. Sometimes it’s easy to see and other times I have to look more closely before I realize the good that came from it. 👀 With the passing of my parents this year I’m grateful for the gift of being with siblings and extended family more than I would have otherwise. I also have the sense that mom and dad are helping me (and no doubt my siblings) in ways that they couldn’t have helped while in their physical bodies. The continued connection with them is comforting and seems to provide a boost when I need it (even if it comes with a few tears as well). 😇 How about for you? Have you been able to slow down enough to recognize the good in your challenging experiences this year? See the light in the darkness? If not, I invite you to do so. My hope for you this year is that you connect with your inner child and reconnect to your dreams and desires knowing there are infinite possibilities to fulfilling them! 🎁 As a side note, I’m curious about something…what do you think the prayer of the precious boy in the photo is?
