A big day for our social etiquette workshop, finishing up a package with a very driven and enthusiastic Havanese that has come leaps and bounds in his behavior, a mini Bernedoodle puppy who was shutting down during her walks got to enjoy the opposite, and an adolescent poodle energy and intelligence learned to put those to good use! Today is my shadow's 5th birthday and I am truly not ok. Owning a dog has to be a level of masochism, though to what degree I'm not sure. But forming a bond, one that's built in true unconditional love knowing that the soul you're bonding with a limited amount of time on this planet, has to be masochistic. And even still I have no idea what my life would look like without this soul. I truly believe Hamilton came into my life to show me love when I needed it the most, and to keep me humble when I was getting too big headed (nothing to bring you back to reality like taping the $100 bill back together your dog destroyed because you were late with dinner) People have argued for decades about whether we as humans put more complex emotions into dogs then they are capable of feeling ( I think the word for that is anthropomorphic) and honestly you can't tell me that Hamilton doesn't have complex human emotions. He's jealous, bossy, demanding, manipulative, holds grudges, and has a Napoleon complex like I've never seen before. Not to mention he's a bully. And despite all of that he is still my best friend!
