After enduring a disappointing loss to St Vincent’s/Curraha last Monday, Trim looked nervous in the opening half as the physically bigger Slane outfit kicked points for fun. Trim found it difficult to control the slippy ball, but a brace of first half goals from Aisling Canty and a string of superb blocks from Saoirse Barry, ensured they were level at the break, 2-3 to 0-9. After the resumption Slane took a firm grip on proceedings with a quickfire 2-1 to move seven points clear.However, rather than capitulate, Trim dug deep and clawed their way back into contention with goals from Zoe May Cashell & Katelyn McLoughlin proving crucial. “May is skin cancer awareness month. Our Healthy Club members brought our new sunscreen dispenser to Ballyrickard on this morning. It is part of the Sunscreen Dispenser Pilot 2024 that the HSE National Cancer Control Programme NCCP are running. The pilot project involves provisions of a sunscreen dispenser with UV index display to a small number of community voluntary groups who are involved in outdoor leisure activities to trial the unit from beginning of May to August . As this is a pilot project those who get involved will be required to undertake some research and give feedback on initiative. CLG Átha Troim is delighted to be partnering with the Trim Autism Friendly Town @trimautismfriendlytown group as they embark on their journey to have Trim awarded the Autism Friendly Town award. Members of our Healthy Club had the pleasure of joining other local volunteer groups and businesses at The Knightsbrook Hotel last week for the @asiamireland training which will facilitate the club in becoming a Community Champion. The next steps involve the roll out of the training to members, coaches and players. Our goal is to not only be a part of the TAFT journey, but also to become a beacon of welcome for anyone on the Autism spectrum who would like to attend the club. Drom and Inch GAA as part of the Healthy clubs initiative are hosting a Breast Health Awareness presentation by Breast Cancer Ireland on Friday April 19th at 8pm in Inch Community Hall. We encourage as many people aged 16 years and older, both female and males, to attend this very worthwhile presentation which will only be approx 30mins. It will include breast health information, a demonstration of how to examine your breasts and a medical mannequin with examples of signs and symptoms of breast cancer for people to examine for their own information. A massive well done to our young players, who ran a VERY successful coffee morning this morning. This was a great way for our young people to connect with people in the community while raising vital funds for Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association. Commitee member Caitlin McArdle kindly allowed our young players to use her home to serve tea and buns to everyone who came along to support such a good cause.
