“Some people are worth melting for.” -Olaf This year has been filled with more ups and downs that I care to count. Sleepless nights, exhausting hours, school meetings, lots of appointments/ follow ups, long commutes to get my boys the medical care and support they need. I had to discontinue my therapy sessions because time was an issue…Not enough hours in the day to do it all. We received 3 pretty serious and life-altering diagnoses out of the blue that literally turned our already fast-paced and sometimes chaotic world upside down. It’s been an interesting year to say the least. 😮💨 When you least expect it, life changes in a blink of an eye. We’ve all heard this time and time again and think nothing of it until you are dealt a hand you didn’t even ask for. I wasn’t prepared at all for everything that’s been thrown our way. Adulting has it’s perks but at times it’s SOO hard and confusing. Parenthood in general is a beast especially for special needs parents and parents of medically complex kiddos. Sometimes I know a thing or two and sometimes I know nothing at all. Just being real here. I often think about how “easy” my parents made “adulting” look. I am sure they felt the same way I’ve been feeling lately especially since they were raising 4 teens at the same time. Man, I don’t know how they did it. Just glad they didn’t give up on me. Unconditional love knows no boundaries or reason. It’s fierce, devoted and never ending. It’s mighty, resilient and powerful. It’s beautiful , hopeful and inspiring. Palpable, comforting and warm. It never quits and it’s a force of nature. There’s nothing better. My days are crazy busy, my hands are full but so is my heart. Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸 Sammy’s 2nd. 🥰 Sebastían and Santiago were too busy having fun so we didn’t get a pic with them. The 4h is always extra special for my family. My papá envisioned a better life for us with more opportunities and a better education. So we got our visas, packed a few essentials, said good bye to our extended family and drove from Mexico City to Brownsville and then to Houston 30 years ago today. We left everything we knew behind and started a whole new life. I was 10 years old. No English and no idea what life in Houston would be like. The first few years were very difficult but my dad always reassured us that we were going to be ok. His instincts were right. We are blessed. I wish my dad was here so we could celebrate with him everything that we’ve accomplished , experienced and overcome. 30 years living in Houston…seems like yesterday. I miss him dearly.
