Kalifornia była cudowna. Ciężko mi uwierzyć, że dwa tygodnie minęły tak szybko i zaraz znowu wsiadamy do samolotu, żeby wrócić do deszczowego Nowego Jorku. Zakochałyśmy się w spokojnym życiu w Central Valley, odwiedziłyśmy San Francisco, Santa Cruz, San Jose, Los Angeles i San Diego. Spędziłyśmy cudowny czas w Pismo i Newport Beach. Przejechałyśmy setki kilometrów, podziwiając przecudne widoki, pływałyśmy łódką u stóp Sierra Nevada i chodziłyśmy po szlaku majestatycznych sekwoi. Karmiłyśmy kaczki, miziałyśmy piesy i świnkę, uśmiechałyśmy się do fok i lwów morskich. In the last week of 2023, I traveled to my home town on the central coast of California, knowing that I would never be back in the same way. I helped my dad pack up his home of over 15 years and we hit the road with two loving but apprehensive stray cats which he has tamed over the years. Somehow I convinced my dad to move from the place he made his home over 40 years ago when he moved here from Pakistan. . We crossed two state lines and arrived in Washington, a place we will both be calling home now. I am beyond proud of him for all of the moves he has made and the changes he has faced. I know I come from a bloodline that rises to challenges and does not back down from transformative opportunities. I am beyond grateful and excited to be in the same state with beloved Papa Khan <3 . Preparing our beloved home for sale, I felt the full gravity of this farewell. Our sanctuary of memories, where laughter and dreams echoed, is whispering its goodbye. The thought of leaving for an uncertain future in France sends shivers through me. Yet, my adventurous spirit trusts that the universe has a plan. The dream of returning to Europe, a seed long nurtured, became resolute at my 50th. Aix-en-Provence, with its cobbled streets and vibrant energy, captured our hearts instantly. Our connection to this place, deepened by exploration and friendships, is a resonant call. Started the homeward journey; dropped down I-5 so I can pick up I-40 and avoid the snow already hitting the Midwest, a route which took me through the agricultural area of Santa Clara County. Around Gilroy, self-proclaimed garlic capital of the world, the air is perfumed with the smell of it, and the road is lined with small, colorful fruit and vegetable stands staffed by farmhands. California Trip FINAL DAY 帰国する日。 朝5時起床。外は暗い。 ゆっくりストレッチして 忘れ物がないか部屋じゅうをチェック。 ベッドや家具の下に 転がり込んでる場合があるから。 引き出しはチェックしたら 半開きにしておく。 チェック済みのサイン。 部屋はOK。 次はレンタカー。 昨日明るいうちに 忘れ物チェックはしているが、 ダブルチェック。 シートの下、ダッシュボード、 3列目のポケット、そしてよく忘れるのが サングラス。 頭上のサングラスポケットをチェック。 OK！ ホテルのフロントでチェックアウトを 済ませる。 モテルのオーナーに何時のフライトだとか 日本まで何時間かかるのかとか、 朝から質問攻め（笑） 日本人の滞在者が珍しいようだ。 すべてOK。 Go to LAX! PCH→Hawthorne→405→Centuryと 通行止めの場所をくぐり抜け、 Alamoレンタカーに到着。 Return the car. レシートをe-mailで送ってもらう。 シャトルバスで空港まで送ってもらう。 もちろん無料。 Delta Airのカウンター付近で降ろしてくれるようドライバーに告げる。 エアチケットのチェックインは すでにインターネットで済ませてある。 預ける荷物が２つあるので Kioskで手荷物タグを発行し、 自分でバッグに付ける。 荷物を預けて終了。 その際、電子チケットのQRコードと パスポートを提示。OK。 3階まで上がり、機内持込手荷物と身体検査。 ここでも電子チケットとパスポートは必要。 検査の際はスマホ、財布、小銭、ベルト、 シューズなどをトレイに出す。 飲み物があればその場で 捨てなければならない。 ホールドアップした身体をスキャンされる。 問題なければ検査された荷物を受け取り、 搭乗口へ。 あとはボーディングタイムになったら シートの種類の順番で搭乗して行く。 シートはいつも通路側。 赤ワインとスナックをもらって 映画を3本。 途中ウトウトしていると、 いつの間にか離陸な準備。 #californiatripnovember2023 #finalday #goodbyecalifornia
