Being a cowboy is not for the faint of heart. • It’s not always pretty and there’s definitely ups and downs!! • Most days, Jake is riding from sun up until after dark! It doesn’t matter if it’s -2 or 110. He pours his heart and soul into these horses. From what they eat and drink to the way that they look to training them specifically for their needs. If he’s not training, he’s studying videos to become an even better trainer, fixing fences, hauling horses and/or meeting with clients. • It’s hard on the body and mind. (Thank goodness for some jam up supplements… heheh.. like how I did that? 😉) • It’s a lot but he loves what he does and he LOVES his horses! • He has big goals and I know that God has even bigger plans for him than he can fathom! ❤️ • *Sorry for the sappy post but most of his work happens in the arena and without a big audience. I'm so incredibly proud of @pennyrae You may have already heard/seen that she is now taking clients @unionsalonbarber Here's a little backstory: (Read at your own risk - no guarantees that you won't be bored) 😂 When we first had August, we decided to have a home salon to ease our family dynamics. Giving Pen the opportunity to work hours that navigated around our newest family member. It worked "perfectly" and continued to work as we welcomed our next little dude into our world. Life continued on, and our schedules continued as such. Pen worked evenings and Saturdays. She added another job into the mix during the days, and her own energy started to deplete. We didn't get much Pen and Mom time, but she was working herself to death FOR us while not getting any time WITH us. This is why I am so proud. She FINALLY (this was a long time coming) took an opportunity that she was approached with, and only being a couple weeks in, the boys and I are already reaping all of the amazing rewards that come with having Pen/Mom home at nights and FULL weekends together!! The moral of this long "rant" is that sometimes the choices we have the hardest time making are the choices with the greatest reward. Patrick and I went to this playground today. I handed him my phone and gave him about 10 directions. A paragraph full of them. All in one shot... Including a direction to protect my phone and make sure nothing happens to it. I told him to climb, what slide I wanted him to go down, what to capture in a video. And I said my whole schpeel once, and handed him my phone. And he didn't miss a beat. You may not think that's a big deal. But I remember the days when we would break down everything to a one word step, and it would take longer to accomplish things that may take others 5 seconds. And that has absolutely nothing to do with intelligence. It has to do with language, and how it is delivered and received. So the fact that I can hand Patrick my phone and a paragraph worth of full sentence directions, once, and come up with the video on the next slide? I just have no way to explain what a difference it has made in his life and in mine. #hardestworkeriknow
