Hatteras became part of our lives when, as a skinny and semi-feral young cat, was found loitering about our yard. I feel that cats find their owners, at least it's been that way for us. She was tough, didn't get along with Delia-cat, so she went on to live with my daughter, who changed the cat's name to Coconuts and tamed her, mostly. Anyway, the painting was done around 2009, a day or two after returning from the vet for surgery, as she recovered on the sun porch. I came across the painting while recently helping to clean my daughter's wet basement floor.
