But personally, I think it might be related to its call, which can sometimes sound mocking. 🌊 These birds certainly have the right to tease a little. In reality, alongside seagulls, with whom they form a formidable team, these cunning birds are the kings of the skies in some cities. Take Saint-Malo, for example. I suggest you hide your sandwich well, or else the seagull will not hesitate to swoop down on your meal, while the laughing seagull will mock your inattention. 🏰 I was lucky enough to witness a real meal flight in front of the ramparts. A tourist was quietly enjoying his sandwich when a seagull suddenly appeared, snatched it, and flew away in a flash. She was perfect. From the gentle sparkle of her diamond stud earrings to her pristinely pressed lab jacket … right on down to pretty pink heels. Dr. Barbie was everything my six year old soul dreamed to become. I still remember how it felt unwrapping her that Easter, and I remember just how Granny looked — hair brushed perfectly into place, slacks carefully pressed; her handbag a meticulous match to her top— as she handed her to me. Dr. Barbie had a stethoscope, an old-fashioned doctor’s bag, a clipboard with a patient’s chart and an x-ray featuring a big pink Valentines-y heart. I was familiar with all these items — seeing as my dad is a doctor — and somehow I simply felt it was my destiny to follow in his footsteps. And for a time, I did. I don’t know if it was at that moment that I resolved to become a doctor — I hadn’t even known that there was a Dr. Barbie until that very moment — or if it’s something that was always there inside of me. I had the education, the grades, the desire, the support— but God said “No.” I’ve often thought about how my life might be different if I’d dismissed that inner-leading. Sometimes I wonder WHY I wanted to go into the medical field— and I’ve always come back to the fact that my heart (think Dr. Barbie’s big pink cartoony x-ray 🩷) just wanted to help people — and it still does. I have an on-again-off-again relationship with social media. I’m not a trendy person and I don’t jive with expressions like “STAHP” or “all the things” or “I can’t even”… (and I’m sorry!! I’m not making fun if you do!! Just doesn’t resonate with me). I write in complete sentences. I almost always spell out every single word, and sometimes I think I’m far more suited to the medical world or academia — but I DO try, because — You matter. And it matters to me that you know that there are hearts out there that care: Doctor 🩷s, Mommy 🩷s, Midwife 🩷s, Entrepreneur 🩷s, Digital Creator 🩷s, Pastoral 🩷s… and Artist 🩷s. So I hope that today you find those hearts that resonate with yours, that carry a frequency that enlivens, emboldens and encourages you on your journey — and that you know that you are loved!! #katiwhitetatterart

We were lucky enough to get all the kids signed up to Branksome Chine Surf Life Saving Club and after training in the pool through winter, they now start their summer beach sessions 🏖️ So now Tuesday ans Wednesdays evening are spent on the beach watching the kids have fun and learning life skills. Finished this #alligatorpainting today because I had something stuck in my mind. I was recently at a golf tournament where an alligator was just being an alligator and sunning himself next to a green. A bunch of golfers passed by and guess what they did… they kept golfing. But this one guy… well he had to take a second and taunt the alligator. He tried walking up real slow behind it and then started clapping at it. My brain said “what a jerk.” Apparently my mouth did too because my friend told me to hush. Anyway …. Please leave these guys alone. Don’t taunt them, feed them, throw things at them, etc. they were here before we were. I know they have a bad rap and so often it has involved owners protecting their dogs and you know … in a terrifying moment like that I might instinctively try to protect/rescue my dog too. Sadly I get it and feel terrible for the people and their families that were involved in such horrible accidents. For the alligators that are just being alligators crossing the street to get to another lagoon to find their newest love interest or for the alligator that is just relaxing and sunning himself … I hope people just let them do their alligator thing. It’s Nice 👍 Well, it’s Nice, but not that nice. A destination we never pictured ourselves visiting, but being conveniently located on our Flix bus route from Turin, we couldn’t pass up seeing what the French Riviera is all about. No, we didn’t make it to the legendary spots of the Côte d’Azur like Saint-Tropez and Cannes. But dare we say the city of Nice is overrated? Crowded, touristy, and expensive. A commercialized old town with minimal cultural depth, a lack of authenticity, and not much to do. A captivating facade, but when you scratch beneath the surface, you discover that Nice feels like a canvas of cliches painted in pastels. We still had a very nice time, but maybe rocky beaches aren’t our thing. Okay, that’s enough puns for this post. We would eventually find our footing in the South of France with the French vibes we were searching for. Stay tuned to find out where! 🇫🇷🥖🍷👎
