Faiz Ahmed Faiz, "The Rug of Despair Still Awaits a Meeting" ‎فرشِ نومیدئ دیدار ‎دیکھنے کی تو کسے تاب ہے لیکن اب تک ‎جب بھی اس راہ سے گزرو تو کسی دکھ کی کسک ‎ٹوکتی ہے کہ وہ دروازہ کھلا ہے اب بھی ‎اور اس صحن میں ہرسو یونہی پہلے کی طرح ‎فرش نومیدیٔ دیدار بچھا ہے اب بھی ‎اور کہیں یاد کسی دل زدہ بچے کی طرح ‎ہاتھ پھیلائے ہوئے بیٹھی ہے فریاد کناں ‎دل یہ کہتا ہے کہیں اور چلے جائیں جہاں ‎کوئی دروازہ عبث وا ہو، نہ بے کار کوئی ‎یاد فریاد کا کشکول لیے بیٹھی ہو ‎محرم حسرت دیدار ہو دیوار کوئی ‎نہ کوئی سایۂ گل ہجرت گل سے ویراں ‎یہ بھی کر دیکھا ہے سو بار کہ جب راہوں میں ‎دیس پردیس کی بے مہر گزر گاہوں میں ‎قافلے قامت و رخسار و لب و گیسو کے ‎پردۂ چشم پہ یوں اترے ہیں بے صورت و رنگ ‎جس طرح بند دریچوں پہ گرے بارش سنگ ‎اور دل کہتا ہے ہر بار چلو لوٹ چلو ‎اس سے پہلے کہ وہاں جائیں تو یہ دکھ بھی نہ ہو ‎یہ نشانی کہ وہ دروازہ کھلا ہے اب بھی ‎اور اس صحن میں ہرسو یونہی پہلے کی طرح ‎فرش نومیدیٔ دیدار بچھا ہے اب بھی ‎‏"The rug of despair still awaits a meeting” ‎‏I wonder who can bear to see it, but even now, ‎‏Whenever one passes by this path, a tearful silence ‎‏Whispers that the door is still open ‎‏And in this courtyard, like before, ‎‏The rug of despair for a meeting is still spread, ‎‏And somewhere, memory, like a wounded heart, ‎‏Sits with outstretched hands, lamenting. ‎‏The heart says, let's go somewhere else, ‎‏Where no door is in vain, nor is anyone empty-handed, ‎‏Where the longing for a meeting becomes a confidant, ‎‏And no shadow of separation remains from the rose. ‎‏One has also seen this a hundred times, ‎‏On the roads of exile, ‎‏In the alleys of foreign lands, ‎‏Caravans of stature, beauty, lips, and tresses ‎‏Descend upon the curtain of the eyes, colorless and formless, ‎‏Just like rain falls on closed windows. ‎‏And each time the heart says, turn back, return this very moment, ‎‏Lest there is no sorrow to greet one’s arrival, ‎‏Return while the door is still open ‎‏And in that courtyard, like before, ‎‏The rug of despair for a meeting is still spread. #faizahmedfaiz #faiz #ghalib #urdupoetry #urdu #hindi #hindipoetry #spokenword #omerfayyaz #joyofurdu
