The second stanza of this actually did happen to me when I was in Year 1. I know everyone gave everyone Christmas cards in primary school, but this one was special; a boy in my class gave me a Christmas card the size of a tiny gift tag and he covered the entire envelope in stickers. Everyone else got a card, but nobody else had a card as decorated as mine. He even pointed it out to me. I’m still not sure what his motivation behind this was but I suppose it was because I let him copy my maths answers (the people pleasing began young.) Still, at least he appreciated it! We ended up going to the same secondary school as well. He isn’t married now but he did go out with a few girls I knew, the latest of whom was really nice. That small act of kindness meant the world to me as a kid. I wasn’t lucky enough to have a playground wedding at any point, though. I also made friends with a girl called Neesha at my swimming lessons. Our mum’s became friends too which is always fun, and I remember feeling so thrilled that I had a non-school friend that nobody could steal from me.
