Two weeks ago, my dad and my brother and I took a much-needed road trip to Cooperstown, New York. The destination, of course, was the National Baseball Hall of Fame. We set off from Eric's house in Hudson, Ohio, and the scenery was gorgeous. We ate some tasty food during the trip, and I think we all had a blast. The Hall itself was everything I hoped it would be, and well, emotions ran high... What can I say, I love baseball, but obviously, there's more to it than that. We finished off the trip with a stop at The Anchor Bar, in Buffalo, for some of the original wings. My dad wasted no time in chatting up that nice lady. This was the first trip we've ever taken as a group, and I'll never forget it. There's no way this would have come together without Eric doing so much of the leg work - all of the driving, and there's no way I could have done it at all without my dad's help. #proudparents 🚨alert🚨 The @macon_impact_baseball 9U boys played in their first kid pitch tournament yesterday in Moultrie Ga. Carson had a pretty good day at the plate with a .333 average over 4 games with 3 RBI’s and 4 runs scored including driving in the go-ahead run in the Championship game against a solid JD Storm team. Carson took the mound and pitched the final three innings in the Championship game throwing a total of 35 pitches of which 27 were strikes! Back on January 12th, the Pittsburgh Pirates signed OF/DH Andrew McCutchen to a 1 year/$5 million dollar deal. First off right from the start, no matter how the Pirates do this season this is a move every baseball fan should love. As most of us should know, Cutch is a former Pirate who was drafted and debuted with the club. While he was in the Steel City, he won an MVP back in 2013, a Gold Glove, a 4x Silver Slugger winner, and a 5x All-Star all through 9 seasons as a Pirate. He played like a Hall-of-Famer when he was with the Buccos and also rocking the dreads. In 1,346 career games as a Pirate, he had a .866 OPS/ .291 BA/ 203 HR/ 725 RBI/ 171 SB/ 292 2B/ 44 3B/ and 1,463 hits. He also finished in the top 5 of the MVP voting from 2012-2015. Sadly however the glory days for Uncle Larry in Pittsburgh are likely over as he enters his age 36 year old season. Last season with the Brew Crew he hit .237 with a .700 OPS/ 17 HR/ 69 RBI/ 25 2B/ 8 SB/ and 122 hits in 134 games. He definitely still has some pop left in his bat however as he hit 27 bombs in 21’ and 17 in 22’. But his speed is mostly gone and his defense isn’t the same anymore. Still for Pirates fans especially you have to love this move. I personally think it is so cool when a veteran potential Hall of Famer goes back to the place where it all started and that is exactly what Cutch is doing. He is going home back to the Steel City. Pirates have had a very solid offseason, which is surprising to say but now they make a move that I can guarantee that their fans will love. #22 is going home.
