A hummingbird moth feeding enthusiastically on the verbena. We planted this mixed verbena and wispy grass (I can't recall exactly which) last year after a visit to Kew Gardens. We went for the Hive, but found lots of inspiration in the worlds longest herbaceous border (clearly we are getting old). We were also thrilled to find Wolemi pines for sale (a tree as old as the dinosaurs, that was thought extinct until it was discovered in the Blue Mountains of Sydney in the 90s). The verbena is doing excellently, its high and regal, and a magnet for moths, butterflies and bees. The grass is not looking so good. It's squat and we are really not sure what it is waiting for.
