I loved remembering all of the previous times I’ve gotten to play Mahler 1 in so many different places - with @chiyso, @brittfestival, @nwsymphony, @sandiegosymphony, @thecbso, and now @chicagosymphony. I’ve been having a wonderful time this week playing @ninashekhar’s Lumina and Mahler’s haunting songs from Des Knaben Wunderhorn with @jaapvanzweden and the @chicagosymphony. ✨ The final song, “Urlicht”, is literally just my favorite 6 minutes of Mahler 2 - but in the song version, the principal harpist gets to play both harp parts, unlike in the symphony! Last night was one to remember! A power outage on Michigan Ave led to no power at Orchestra Hall.
