Giorgio lascia il ristorante e si dedica interamente alla produzione della linea GioandGio food che a oggi conta svariati liquori, grappe e creme liquorose...ma non è tutto. Nel 2020 durante il lockdown Giorgio si avvicina sempre di più al mondo del Gin, inizia a documentarsi sulla sua storia e un periodo in particolare lo colpisce, il proibizionismo inglese degli anni '20. In questi anni essendo vietata la produzione di alcolici, nacquero i Bathtub Gin, i Gin della vasca da bagno, realizzati clandestinamente nelle abitazioni private tramite l'ausilio di vasche da bagno, da qui il nome, in cui le botaniche venivano lasciate in infusione a freddo nell'alcol. Friday at last 😊 And this week, at Black Mountains Botanicals, we’ll be enjoying a 'Ginger Rhubarb Gin Cocktail'. It’s the perfect balance between tart and sweetness, with a deliciously ‘warm and gingery’ afterglow. Perfect for your Friday evening tipple! The Ginger Rhubarb Gin Cocktail 😋 ❤️50ml Black Mountains Botanicals London Dry Gin ❤️25ml Ginger Simple Syrup ❤️50ml Rhubarb Juice ❤️50ml Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice ❤️Ginger Beer to top-up Plus… A Mint Sprig for the garnish Chop a stem of Rhubarb into small pieces and add to a saucepan, along with a splash of water. Bring to the boil and simmer for 5 minutes (until the Rhubarb becomes soft). Strain through a sieve and set the juice aside to cool. Cut a ‘thumb sized’ piece of Fresh Ginger into slices and add to a pan, along with equal parts water and sugar. Bring to the boil and simmer for 1 minute. Then turn off the heat and leave to infuse for 10 minutes. Strain the syrup into a jug and set aside to cool. In a mixing glass, combine the Gin, Rhubarb Juice, Ginger Simple Syrup and Lime Juice with a handful of ice and give it a good stir. Strain into a Collins Glass filled with ice (pre-lined with a spiral sliver of Rhubarb). Nach einer kleinen Pause rief bereits der Taunus und wir machten Halt bei Roland und seinem Spring Break Gin von @urselgin Den Abschluss machten wir dann einmal hoch im Norden bei Johanna und ihrem @elbbrand ein wirklich kurzweiliger und toller Abend mit wunderbaren Teilnehmern sorgte auch dafür das der November Termin bereits so gut wie ausverkauft ist. Trotz Wetter😎 Was für ein gelungener Abend bei der lieben Jasmin von der @frittenqueen gestern am Rhein. Ja ok, die Temperaturen waren durchaus ausbaufähig. The latter was an avid drinker during his time as a commodities trader, but realised on his trips to bars that there wasn't any Korean gins active in the bar scene. This time, the oak does a good job of mellowing the spiciness down, and also yielded some interesting flavor accents such as a curious sarsaparilla note that's usually more common in tropical rums than in gins! - Batch #0007 Doongulae Gin | 부자진 둥굴레 진 Another demonstration of that trademark spiciness that I've come to notice with Buja Gins! Last week I was in Valencia for work and one evening I took full advantage of trying some new local/Spanish gins. On the left: Magari Blossom Gin, a 40% London dry gin with citrus and algae. Yes seaweed! There are also other botanicals: bergamot, orange, hibiscus flower, angelica root and ginger, so it’s citrusy and ‘spicy’, with a marine note at the end. It was an interesting find and I just wish that it hadn’t been served with Schweppes but a more neutral tonic in order to fully appreciate the complexity of flavours. On the right: the premium 40% Gin Miel that won a few awards back in 2019. The botanicals are Angelica, ginger, coriander, aniseed and lemon peel and I’m sure it would have been absolutely spectacular had it not been served with a flipping Schweppes tonic which completely decimated the honey after taste into some medicinal weirdness. Had it been served with a light ginger ale/with a ginger twist, than I’m sure I would have appreciated the drink much better. Oggi e nelle prossime settimane, il 🧞♂️ vi porta e porterà ad Apecchio, un piccolo comune italiano di 1700 abitanti della provincia di Pesaro e Urbino nelle Marche, per parlarvi di una serie di interessanti gin realizzati dalla distilleria Collesi. 🇮🇹 2️⃣ Il segreto del Gin Collesi è nell’eccellenza e varietà degli ingredienti. Acqua purissima del Monte Nerone, ben sette diverse botaniche: prime fra tutti le bacche di un pregiato ginepro tipico dell’Appennino, visciole (dolcissime ciliegie originarie del marchigiano), luppolo, rosa selvatica, guscio di noce e scorza d’arancio e limoni italiani. Le botaniche, sapientemente dosate, vengono lasciate in infusione in una base alcolica di grano a pieno grado. L’infuso viene quindi diluito con acqua del Monte Nerone e poi refrigerato a –15° per almeno 30 ore, filtrato, imbottigliato e lasciato maturare al buio per 4 lunghi mesi.
