Hi, I'm Jen, and I'm partial to a gin 👋 I'm currently recovering from major shoulder surgery, so I am practising my left-handed drinking. This pic was a quick snap at the weekend where I attended a black tie event complete with full arm slin. No dancing! We’ve had some BIG things brewing and we are stoked to announce that we have joined forces with our awesome local friends at @capecornwallrumco Joe and I took over Elemental back in 2020, a hippy-surfer-PM, a travel guru and a crazy toddler, with no idea how to make gin let alone build a gin brand. We learned everything on the go, from how to distil an award-winning, premium Cornish gin in our bottom-of-the-garden distillery to developing new recipes and then somehow winning awards for our own new gins, RTD cans and Norvys Vodka! We have hand peeled thousands of oranges and lemons, served our spirits at Glastonbury and seen Joe’s beard become a brand unto itself! We have lived and breathed Elemental, and many of you have come on this journey with us, watching the brand develop and grow, as well as our little family which has been chaotic, exhilarating and exhausting! Merging Elemental Distilling Co and Cape Cornwall Rum under the same ownership is a significant milestone on our journeys! It’s the first day of Gin a Day May and my first #ginniversary - this very hashtag was the prompt that finally got me to set up this account and what a lovely year it’s been! I’ve met so many new Insta-friends, tried so many new things and learnt such a lot! For anyone new - I’m Steph and I live in the Leicestershire countryside with my husband, 3 boys (a 4 year old and 2 yr old twins - our house is very loud!) and a very sassy old Beagle. I’ve been in the pub trade since the tender age of 16, though no longer on the frontline these days. Spirits - gin and rum in particular - are a real passion for me and as childfree nights are a bit rarer for us currently, you can often find me trying my hand at a new cocktail or two at our lovingly curated home bar! Day 1 - Selfie Hello! I'm Tabitha. I really don't take selfies, partly because, as you can see, I lose absolutely all ability to smile normally once a camera is pointed at me! In fact I can probably count the number of any photos of me in the last 10 years on my fingers - and yes, I do only have the standard ten! But I couldn't fail on the first day, so I'm recycling this one that I took last year for a Craft Gin Club magazine article. As to me, well I only realised that I even liked gin in 2014 and still didn't start really drinking it until 2019, when an illness meant I had to mostly give up my lifelong love of cognacs and dark rums. I joined Craft Gin Club and also bought about 20 carefully chosen gins - which in my naivety I thought was highly excessive - and my gin journey has continued from there. I now force myself keep to just over 100 gins on my shelf simply because that's all that fits my space. I mostly don't bother with flavoured, fruity gins, but do make some exceptions. I like a good classic gin, but also love a big flavour profile. I love a simple G&T or a classic dry martini, but I also a great cocktail, whether made by experts at a great bar, or by me at home. I enjoy having a play with interesting flavours and techniques, some of which work better than others!
