Yesterday I drove to Kenmare, Co. The way the light hits the iridescent gold ♡ ㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡ These white frames with double wood really add something extra to the presentation of my larger paintings. This painting is from a workshop I did with @isabellegaboritencaustics last year. If you're looking to try encaustics I would highly reccomend booking a workshop with her, she's extremely generous with her materials and knowledge. She started me on the path of encaustics! Experimenting with a different colour scheme, this piece came out looking more planetary. I've called it "Life on Mars" (was; Mars Ocean), something about red water and oceans on Mars... But the main feature is that red eye, which looks like something from Jupiter. (1/3) Work in progress of an 8 x 8 inch encsustic painting. Purples, pinks, turquoise and gold. This piece is coming together with dreamy colours that make me think of pisces. On a day that I wasn't really in my groove I ended up working into this fish more and making it a bit "messy", but I like the effects and the colours in isolation. I'm not getting the "finished" vibe from the overall artwork yet, but I'm not sure what I'd like to do next.
