‘Ducks & Yellow Waterlilies’ I had a beautiful Kayak trip today, meeting close friends on the lake for their big birthday. We had tea and delicious cake, sitting on the mossy rocks under an oak tree on other side. Mallard ducks flew out on my way back home. We have all seen them, they are very common here in Ireland, but maybe sometimes we forget to notice how incredibly beautiful and exotic they are! The inspiration for this painting came from watching baby ducklings around their parents, confidently diving right under, and, POP - up again, as fluffy as they were before they went under. Thoughts? I was so excited to see this - it was an “ah ha”moment, visceral… calling me from my dreams. Recent posts have talked about me being a square peg in a round hole, my BIG dreams, the need to jump .. to step up. I had a group discussion about desire recently with my painting crew. I shared how I felt about desire and how we step into our courage more and more when surrounded by the right supportive people, when they give gentle encouragement… the small pushes to help you JUMP. What did I not share? My deepest and most secret art desire - to paint like this - on a huge scale. Emotionally and physically… this image, curated on @artroomsapp from one of my studies for my upcoming Swanlight release has cracked me wide open. Will I ? Can I ? Should I? What is your inspiration? Visually, energy-wise, from words or sounds … I’m a mix of sunrise, water, the woods and I’ll take mountains any day. I can read a short simple poem that makes my heart say yes. Classical or ethereal soothing sound-baths and full encapsulation in audio recordings from our more-than-human world. Sometimes I confuse myself .. because with this longing for stillness I’m comfortable with my alter ego who chases adrenaline, dancing, disco lights and glitter. It’s ok to be both - yes?
