They are easily frightened by various events, similar to the Thai idiom "frightened rabbit". The reason why the child in the painting closes his eyes also symbolizes ignorance and lack of wisdom. The animals that appear in the paintings are dinosaurs and extinct Ice Age animals. They remind viewers of the dangers of seeing people who lack intelligence, who may end up like those animals.
