One of my regrets this year is not getting more professional photos of me as Captain Marvel, something I will be fixing in January 2020 because I got two shoots with her. Carol is my all time favorite hero and 2019 marks the 10th year of her being my favorite. I’ve been obsessed with her as a hero and I have followed the character on her journey from Ms. Marvel to Captain Marvel to being on screen. I made a version of her costume way back in 2014 and then I bought the movie version in 2018. I still want to make another comic book version eventually because I’ve worn holes in my original cosplay. I loved it that much. Due to this immense love I wanted to share some of the Captain Marvel cosplayers I stand with and shower them with appreciate and admiration. As usual if any of the following cosplayers don’t appreciate their likeness being used in this way I will take it down. ✈️✈️✈️✈️ 1. @aletheia_cosplay - This Cosplay is the reason I began following this girl who is now my friend. I love her as Annabeth but this cosplay will always be my favorite to see her wear. 2. @genna.cat - I love this cosplay so much as she rocks the short hair to perfection! Genna looks perfect as Carol as she does in all her cosplays. 3. @jedimanda - a truly inspiring cosplayer who actually MADE their MCU Carol suit and that just blows my mind. I wish to learn this witchcraft. They look flawless and all their photos are perfect. 4. @loodlz - Another good friend who is rocking the short hair for Carol, but this time it’s natural! I just love seeing her cosplay Captain Marvel so much! 5. @thegeekyseamstress - This Cosplayer was the only other Carol cosplayer I knew of in my early cosplay years before the movie came out. Certainly the first who I ever saw make a helmet! Now there are more of us and I am so happy Carol is getting the love she deserves. 6. Let’s ring in the new year by celebrating more cosplayers that I stand with. Assassin’s Creed is one of the games that I absolutely adore, especially the Ezio games. There are so many other wonderful AC cosplayers out there, but I mainly want to focus on Ezio since that’s who I’m portraying. @kadart_cosplay is CANON Ezio and I always love seeing their work pop up on my feed. @hyacinth_crafting -what can I even say? I've been wanting to do the #istandwithyou challenge for a while, so here we go!! I love my fellow Greeds and Lings and I feel like when someone cosplays him, I instantly have this deep connection with them. For a long time, when I first started cosplay, I was insecure. About my skills, my life, my ability, and my own self awareness. I was in a place where I didn't know who I was, and it felt lonely and I was constantly filled with trepidation, worried others would judge me for not being good enough. Outwardly, that was expressed through envy of others, not wanting other people to cosplay the characters I felt attachments to, and at times, verbally putting them down because of it. I'm not a kid anymore, but I think we all gripe with these feelings, even when we are secure in ourselves. It can be scary when words like "canon" or "the best" get thrown around, like anyone else is second rate. But what I've learned is it's certainly not true! We all bring something so very unique to our cosplays. Even closet cosplays are filled with wonder and an invaluable love for the characters we dress up as and what those characters stand for. Feeling a kinship towards those who cosplay the characters I do has brought me so much light to my life, helped me connect further with myself, and made me friends! Even if you're just starting out now, or just starting to think about cosplay, what I want you to take away from this is that you can learn so much more from others if you're open to them. Work with them, not against them. Love them. And they'll teach you just by being uniquely them! Happy #Gwensday! Today I reached 1,000 followers, but I wanted to take a moment celebrate just a few of my favorite Gwens. It's so easy for cosplay to become competitive and for people to feel somewhat protective of "their" character. I love the idea of the #istandwithyouchallenge, highlighting other cosplayers who cosplay the same character as you. Spider-Gwen means so much to me as a character and I have been cosplaying her for several years, but no matter how long I've been doing it I LOVE finding new Gwens! It's easy to feel jealous or protective, to fall into the mindset that "I loved her first" or to bemoan the fact that she's become such a mainstream character in the past year, but instead I'm just so happy that she is inspiring people. I am so grateful that I get to share my love of her with so many people now, especially these fabulous cosplayers! Through cosplaying Gwen I have developed friendships around the world, and I honestly couldn't pick just two others for this challenge because there are so many wonderful Spider-Gwen cosplayers out there. I could make this post three times over and still not mention everyone. 🕷🕸 • • Top left: @kiah.papaya.cos is such a sweetheart and I have loved watching all of her cosplays develop. #istandwithyouchallenge - Sakura Edition 🌸 . Sakura was my first cosplay that I might never let go of. So of course I have to include her here, though I am not as connected to others anymore 😭. One of the reasons is that many of them stopped cosplaying completely! I really debated on doing the #istandwithyouchallenge going around because there’s absolutely so many amazing cosplayers that i couldn’t possibly fit them all in. I have a Shinsou highlight though that I highly recommend looking at for everybody! With that said heres why I want to do it. This might get a bit long so I apologize... I struggle really REALLY hard with always comparing myself to others. I see the likes, I see the comments and I wonder what is it I’m doing wrong? Why am I not good enough? What can I do better? Every costume I struggle and then I’m reminded over why I enjoy cosplaying. The people I met at cons, the incredibly fun times, the silly pictures, the photoshoots and the fact that as a community we really are here to lift each other up. For as much comparison as I do, these people, and so many more, all help encourage me to be a better person and to instead lift up other cosplayers and myself. Each and every single person does such an amazing job and in their unique way is amazing. There is no right way to cosplay nor is there a wrong way when you’re having fun. I need to remind myself that and this cosplay challenge is that reminder that we are all amazing, all unique, and all able to tell the next person that they did an amazing job. I wanted to do the #istandwithyouchallenge with Sauron, and there are 2 amazing cosplayers that come to mind. The first on the left is @ixicosplay whose Sauron is truly awesome. He really embodies this character and makes it look effortless. The attention to detail on all the armour blew me away when I first saw it and one day I hope to be in a position where I can meet ans photograph with him. I also have to mention @cosplayersalith for her stunning Mairon in the middle. Again, attention to detail is key for me, and I am in love with the flood of accessories she uses for this cosplay. She perfectly captures the grandiosity of Mairon and I am happy to have been able to photograph with her. I am honored to know both of these cosplayers who continue to inspire me as I edit my own Sauron (right pic) as well as create future cosplays. #istandwithyouchallenge @pyrapoison made such an incredible post about sharing passions for characters and named me as one of the White Diamonds she showcased. I couldn’t have said it better myself and I’m sorry I couldn’t get this post up sooner, but I wanted to have some of my own say on the matter. . I’ve always been incredibly jealous of other cosplayers and constantly compare myself to them, but I’m beginning to learn that this jealousy can be turned into inspiration; the cosplay community is such a fun, friendly and creative one, it feels silly not to pay attention to the exciting and fulfilling possibilities that it holds. 🌸 . These ladies and myself all share the same passion for one character, for one costume, for one hobby. Each of us took a different inspiration from SU, and each one of us looks stunning. I cannot stress enough that it is much healthier (and more enjoyable!) to love your fellow cosplayers - especially those that take on the same character as you! Not that long ago @deaniewink tagged me in her combination of #feyrefriday and #istandwithyouchallenge. To be mentioned together with all of these beautiful woman that make a gorgeous Feyre Cosplays was empowering! We are all different and our cosplays are all different, but amazing in their own way. The idea of doing something like this myself has been on my mind for a while already, but these past few weeks I had a difficult time.
