Feeling really physically activated in a great way! I'm a #naturegirl through and through and to commune with the Earth and all of her wonders is my sacred ritual of life as a walking meditation. As the seasons shift that means a shift in our choice of daily nature exercise and an uptick in the levels of intensity. Longer hikes and bike rides are a favorite of mine and always make me feel so refreshed and invigorated. I love gardening and doing all my own yard work too. We're all about a hike or bike ride a day in warmer temps and that could include a kayak journey when water conditions are smooth sailing. Outdoor exercise is my go-to wellness plan and is my top tip for feeling vibrant. I find it great for the body, heart, mind and soul. I'm 51 and my levels of activity have only increased over time. For me, the more physical activity, the better I feel, my energy stays harmonized, and I get really great sleep. I need more than most people due to my personal makeup energetically, and I'm constantly amazed by what is possible because of my determination and joy merging in my resilient heart. It was also only just last fall that I did my first ever bike tour overseas where we biked nearly 250 miles in six days. All of this driving home how the things we think we can’t do, are sometimes only a belief away, or a shift of stories that we allow to run the show. It's never too late to do something you've wanted to try or to learn something new. It's only within the last four years that I've learned to ski. It's also only in recent years that I've learned to surmount fears of heights on many an occasion of ski slopes, backpacking the Grand Canyon, and even doing Angel's Landing in Zion - one of the most dangerous hikes in the U.S. Courage of the heart is something I've truly come to understand on many levels and even in more areas than these. There's an unlimited well of support within that we have yet to tap into that can fuel so much. And for me, not only do I keep discovering more of what is possible when I do, but I realize the importance of nurturing my heart's needs on each level as well.

Rancho San Antonio came through again! I have several favorite trails here and this weeks was a great one with nice cardio uphill to start and then a beautiful creek trail to wind things down to the farm, cute #babygoats and finish things off with a flat mile or so. Highly recommend taking a step away from your office, homes, etc and step into beautiful nature… you won’t regret it! 4.5 miles but there’s a lot of variety here to go short or long!!! Mostly paved or compacted ground if you only want to go to the farm and back- check @deerhollowfarmfriends 🅿️Parking can be a bit busy but just wait a minute and a spot should open up! Deel 3 Het moment waarop we allen hadden gewacht, de zon die de modder deed opdrogen, de dagen die langer werden. Maar net zoals de winter modderig is, is de lente kriebelig… Na een paar dagen zon kregen we hier een massale opkomst van miljoenen kriebelmugjes. En laat het nu net deze rotbeestjes zijn wat Malia nodig had om te doen beseffen ‘er is niks beters dan een mens die op de beste plekjes kan krabben’. Dit zorgde ervoor dat Malia als een magneet naar ons trok, en juist dit heeft de klik in haar hoofd doen maken dat mensen wel heeeel leuke en aangename dingen kunnen doen met haar. Nu zijn de mugjes al tijdje weg maar Malia heeft het licht gezien en blijft heel aanhankelijk! Wat een paard toch nodig heeft om te beseffen dat mensen niet altijd stom zijn. - Happy International Hyena Day! - Hyenas don't have the best reputation, but they are a critical part of the African ecosystem. As part of the clean-up crew after bigger predators like lions finish with their kill, hyenas help reduce disease by eating the carcass, bones and everything! It was quite something to witness this live. A leopard had taken down a gazelle. We watched as she slowly consumed her kill, while keeping vigilant watch. A hyena was hanging around and eventually used our vehicles as cover to get close enough before launching a surprise attack. Much to my amazement, the leopard conceded her kill. Sunrise over the Gulf of Mexico ~ Birding lights up my soul in ways I can only describe as life affirming. 🌿 Being a Birder is more than seeing pretty birbs (yes, birbs). Birding is a thrill requiring one to be surrounded by nature. I take in the elements, sounds, the mossy scent underfoot in the woods. The salt in the coastal breeze. I am watching the sun rise knowing that many birds are already up, singing to defend their territory, attract a mate. Singing in courtship also nurtures the bond between lifelong pairs. A bird is more than a flying object covered in feathers. One spends hours reading, days watching, always learning, sharing and conversing about their experiences with other bird lovers. To seek out new birds (aka Lifers) it entices you to travel to new locales, explore new terrain. You may climb a mountain, take a boat out to sea, hike the woods, the prairie, the marsh, in search of a new Lifer. Birding can bring joy while standing in a dirty parking lot, behind a mall, on a sweltering humid day, while your eyes land on a rare beauty that has been flying a thousand miles on her way to the Arctic to rear a new generation of rare beauties. Birds are exotic in every way. They fly! They see the world more vibrantly than you and I because they see color in UV wavelengths (imagine a red flower appearing to glow from a green shrub, not 'pop' but *glow*). They sing, beautiful complex songs in notes outside our ability to hear. Mama will sit on her eggs as a rogue storm drops a foot of snow on her back. They weave and dance and mourn, just like we do, too. To bird is to notice every detail, to admire and strive to protect all of the ecosystem that is necessary for the survival of our avian friends. A dead tree left standing is a home, refuge, lifeline for many species. A lawn should be full of weeds, with grass gone to seed, ants and grubs in the soil because those are things that help birds and all wildlife thrive. One will never see every bird, or know every behavior, quirk and song.
