With the latest series of The Crown now in full swing on Netflix we thought for this week's throwback Thursday we would look at our small contribution to this wonderful drama. In Series 2 an episode documented the Royal visit to the Jaguar factory at Browns Lane in 1956. As such the producers wanted a perfectly restored and original looking 1956 XK140 to recreate the scene of the Queen's arrival. Settle in... * One day in 2013, Steve’s (LOVELY/talented & beautiful) wife Sandra asked him, “How come I don’t have a fun car at the garage? A car I can take to meet up with my friends & take shopping in Wayzata”. The search was on for a fun sports car. They looked mostly at Europeans, Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, Audi, & few others. Nothing hit them until one day Steve’s friend Gene Berghoff & Jaguar connoisseur offered them a test spin in his Jaguar XK8 convert. Steve attended the launch event for the brand-new Jaguar F-Type at @jaguarlandrovermpls . Amid a well-dressed crowd, champagne & hors d’ oeuvres, the Rhodium Silver convertible was unveiled. Just WOW! Hearing the news that a coupé was in the offing, Steve knew he needed to WAIT. In 2017 Steve’s family traveled to the UK, he arranged for a four-hour VIP plant tour of the Jaguar factory at Castle-Bromwich in Birmingham, UK. There he saw Jag-u-ars built from SCRATCH. The coupé lines were breathtaking. He REALLY had to HAVE one. Steve continued his search country-wide for the RIGHT one. It had to be a coupé, it had to be white & it had to be a 2017. The year they went to England he almost pulled the trigger on one in Huntsville, AL. In Sep, 2018, the car of Steve’s dreams landed in his own back at yard @morriesluxury Auto in Golden Valley. Steve snapped it up FASTER than a Jaguar chasing an antelope. 🐆 🦌 He LOVES this car beyond belief. The coupé has the best looking “tail end”! Steve & beautiful Sandra call her “Kitty Cat”. For the license plate, MI6 Jag, is a nod to the British Intelligence agency & their agents. While James Bond 007 always drove an Aston Martin, “M” & his MI6 comrades drove Jaguars.
