This is my beautiful girl Kris!!! (Update💪🏻😁) Kris is in the adding muscle phase! We’ve dropped the pounds and burned some serious fat! So proud of Kris! She works hard at every session! Never misses! Kris started with me in 01/23. She is down 7 lbs. She is up 1 inch in her arm💪🏻💪🏻 She is down 2 inches in her bust(which measures back fat loss as well) She is down 3 inches in her waist. She is down 3 inches in her hips. She is down 1 inch in her thigh. She absolutely prioritizes protein. She sees me twice a week for weight lifting . Kris stays active with walking and yoga out of the studio. The scale doesn’t need to change that much to see weight lifting results!! On the carriage, I smelled the scent of the horses, heard the rhythm of the horses' hooves, and felt the close contact between nature and animals. What purpose do you have for your household? Or have you even considered it? Maybe you are just winging it. I know I was for a while. I had no sense of direction. I didn’t know what type of mother I was or wanted to be. I just woke up everyday and winged it. At first I went suuuupppeerr rigid and authoritarian. That didn’t feel good or work well. Next I tried to be passive. 100% go with the flow. It. Was. Chaos. I had to find a purpose and direction (or tone) for the house that suited us well. I leaned into Conscious or Connection-based parenting. Let me break it down though! Connection-based Parenting isn’t forsaking boundaries or consequences in the name of peacekeeping. It IS a culmination of various tools and practices that are unique family to family. Setting the tone and finding the purpose in our household looks like this: 1. Open, Effective Communication between all family members. We still have an assertive, commanding voice when needed. It is NOT screaming or yelling in chaos. It’s composure in REAL TIME (emotional regulation for the win!) 2. A concerted effort at self-discipline and composure that FIRST comes starts with ME. 3. Humility- this looks like repairing after the rupture. We teach not only accountability for actions when THEY make mistakes, but also when WE make mistakes. This includes apologies on both ends. 4. Honoring that they are humans with valid feelings and life experiences. Again, this doesn’t mean that their perception equates to they are “right” or there are no consequences. It DOES mean we hear them, we validate them, then we guide them. Parenting is hard. There’s no magic formula. I know this from personal experience and conscious parenting is one of the hardest, most rewarding things I’ve ever endeavored to do. I paved a path… you can too! Torre del Oro (Tower of Gold) is now a dodecagonal military watchtower in Seville, built in the early 13 century (1220-1221) which served as a prison in the Middle Age. The name of the tower is from the shine that projects to the river Guadalquivir because of the building materials (a mixture of mortar, lime and pressed hay), not because it was made of gold. As of today, this tower still serves as one of the most important monuments in the city of Seville, along with the Plaza de España, the Reales Alcázares de Sevilla, and the Cathedrále de Sevilla. As coming back to the city the 4th time, I am still learning new things about the history of the city, and how the different cultures mixed that we have today.
About a year ago around this time, as the summer was coming into full swing; I was surprised with the misfortune of catching chickenpox…(at my big big age😅💀🙌🏾👀who would have thought!) I had to also cut my dreadlocks off to be able to get the ointment on the spots that found their way atop my head. It is throughout the entire time of having the blessing of someone willing to have my back when I could not reach it; That I learned and solidified the idea of putting my pride aside even more to further develop the understanding that as one person you cannot do it all by yourself…nor are we here on this Earth to go at it alone…🤲🏾it becomes surprising overwhelming when the manifestations of your dreams stare at you in your face…learning how to accept (even the beautiful things) is its own little challenge, but an important one to overcome. So I found this project to be a rather poetic way of honouring that moment in time, and stamping it with my artistic appreciation while still in it, rather than waiting to mourn the beauty of what was: This project is a celebration of the unbelievable beauty of love. I would like to thank Melany Alexandra Mena-Valdez (📸@24o7_bhearts ) for not only capturing the vision but also bringing so much more! And most importantly Ebru Acik🫀 for the love that inspired all of this.
