A pillory was the place in which offenders used to be imprisoned and exposed to public abuse back in the Middle Ages. Bayonne’s pillory was located a few meters away. 🇫🇷 Le côté obscur de la beauté. On this photograph you can see Ciboure accros Saint-Jean-de-Luz’ harbour. If you look closely, you can spot a grey house that looks more like a Dutch house rather than a Basque one… this is the birth house of the famous French composer Maurice Ravel, but it was built in 1630. 🇫🇷 "Tête de pont " (“zubi buru” en basque) est la signification du nom de la ville de Ciboure, construite de l'autre côté de la Nivelle. Lors d'un beau week end "de livres" et de maisons d'édition en expo à Florence, je pus voir une bibliothèque que je rêvais de visiter depuis longtemps. La bibliothèque du British Institute de Florence dans le palais Lanfredini sur les bords de l'Arno. Une superbe vue, des livres bien sûr mais encore le vieux système de classement et le buste de Harold Acton, grand protecteur et supporter de cet endroit. Promoteur de belles initiatives et événements littéraires et musicaux, l'institut est une adresse de référence avec un personnel d'une énorme gentillesse.
