總共五天的行程，第一天我沒參與，因為我去受訓，花了兩天把證照都換了，也很很順利的完成✅ 一家人來台灣，我有時候都會換位思考一下，如果有天我的爸媽在退休時刻去國外旅遊，我會希望他們受到什麼待遇呢？ 答案當然很簡單，我會希望國外的嚮導都細心的照顧他們，上下車、吃與住，幾乎每位客人來到阿里山我都會跟著走，因為怕客人迷路或是買錯車票，做到神木站，然後要爬好多樓梯才能到沼平車站。 阿里山裡面沒什麼東西可以吃，可能錯過了中餐就只能吃小七，有些客人不太了解，我們當然要特別安排好，控制好時間先吃飽才能上山走走。 阿里山到奮起湖至少四十分鐘，沿路蜿蜒曲折的山路，難免會暈車，也要幫客人準備減緩暈車的小工具，比如酸梅、百靈油等等。 這次哥哥來，哥哥已經70多歲了，上次他們來台灣是30面前，特別從日月潭走玉山國家公園到阿里山，也是到處看看，台灣除了太魯閣以外還有玉山國家公園、塔塔加都好漂亮跟神仙住的地方一樣的。 It was a total of five days of travel. St Mary's church, Ilmington in the Cotswolds. All the woodwork in the church was replaced in the 1930s by beautiful oak furnishings, made by Robert Thompson of Kilburn in Yorkshire. He became known as 'Mousey' Thompson because of his endearing habit of signing his work with a 'church mouse', and today was one of those days when I almost failed to find any of the 11 mice in this village church. Tomorrow I am off to guide the Churchill War Rooms. That I am able to do this is thanks to the man top right in this photo - Hastings’Pug’ Ismay. Ismay was Churchill’s chief military advisor during WW2 and it was he who recognised that future generations would be interested in visiting the War Rooms. He ordered that at the end of the war the key should be turned in 3 of the rooms that you can visit today, and that they should remain undisturbed. Documents that contain information that is still sensitive have been removed. Other rooms have been reconstructed using photographs taken during the War years. Pug Ismay went on to become the first Secretary General of NATO. FYI the photograph was taken in the garden of 10 Downing Street on 8 May 1945 (shortly before I would imagine that WSC had his first good night’s sleep for a number of years). So I probably spent an hour on my hands and knees between the choir stalls - with permission - raising the seats so she could photograph the misericords. Little Snoring church in Norfolk once stood beside a World War II airbase, when one might have seen Spitfires arriving and departing nearby. Now all signs of it have vanished, leaving the church to the peace and quiet of Norfolk village life. Its round tower is a feature of this area, where rough flint was the easily available building material. The tower was built in the 11th century, but more unusually it still stands although the church was rebuilt beside it. Holkham Hall in Norfolk, a really 'stately home', still lived in by the Coke family who built it in the 18th century. The architect was William Kent. It has an interesting art collection, assembled by the man who built it while travelling on his 'Grand Tour'. Yesterday was so cold, windy and wet that this entrance hall managed to look snug and welcoming.
